I recently had an assignment for school in which I had to find a quote which I really liked and which I felt I connected somewhat to. Do any of you have any specific quotes that you would like to share.

I found many but chose one in specific.

If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.
~Buddha

I like quotes, there is just something that I like about saying things that others much more intelligent than I have thought.

I always have enjoyed the simplicity of Socrates' quotes such as:

"All that I know is that I know nothing. And in knowing this, that makes you the smartest of all."
"Thou shouldst eat to live; not live to eat."
"The unexamined life is not worth living."

"Wise men talk because they have something to say. Fools talk because they have to say something."
-- Plato

Good topic. Here are few of my faves:

The only true currency in this world is what you share with somebody when you’re uncool. – Lester Bangs

There ain’t a horse that can’t be rode, or a rider that can’t be throw’d. - old boxing saying

Don't mistake activity for achievement. – John Wooden

You can't keep trouble from coming, but you don't have to offer it a chair. – Midwestern Expression

We are what we repeatedly do.
--Aristotle & Vince Lombardi

Going to Long Beach is like having a 10 lb. Roast pulled out of your ass with a plastic fork. – Tom Green

One that hits close to home:

"If a man's good for nothing else, he can at least teach philosophy."

William James

I also like this one:

"Wit is educated insolence." (Aristotle)

this is my favorite though

"Someday - and that day may never come - I'll call upon you to do a service for me. But until that day, accept this justice as gift on my daughter's wedding day"

Two from Conan The Barbarian:In response to "Conan, What is best in life?"
"Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women!"
and from Thulsa Doom: "What is steel compared to the hand that wields it?"
A classic from Wilt Chamberlain:"Noone ever cheers for Goliath!"

"If it were beneficial, their father would produce children already circumcised from their mother. Rather, the true circumcision in spirit has become profitable in every respect." -Jesus, from the Gospel Of Thomas

For the ironic value of it, I love this one:

"Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all be
running around in darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music."

These are predictable, but how about:

"Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration." --Thomas Edison.

"Imagination is more important than knowledge." --Albert Einstein.

I don't know if they contradict each other, but I don't care.

A student gave me a ridiculous answer in class today. My response: "That's a crock-a-doodle."

Another one I like from Einstein is "Try not to be a man of success, but a man of value."

Here are some of my favorite quotes. Lemme know if they're good.

"Empty your mind. Become formless and shapeless like water. When water is poured into a cup, it becomes the cup. When water is poured into a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can either crash... or flow. Be water, my friend."
Bruce Lee

"The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering."
Bruce Lee

"Not all those who wonder are lost"
J.R.R. Tolkien
