I just watched an ESPN interview of Anna Kournikova by Jeremy Schapp. To start, I'm not a fan of Anna. I think she's overrated as a tennis player and as a model. But I don't blame her for taking advantage of her assets. About a year ago, I started to feel a little sorry for the woman because she stopped even competing in tennis to any kind of championship degree. Now that Maria Sharapova has stormed onto the scene by winning Wimbeldon & by challenging Anna in the glamour magazines, obviously Anna's days as the "it" tennis girl are numbered. We all know it, but we don't need Jeremy freakin' Shapp of ESPN to shove it in Anna's face, TO HER FACE in a tasteless interview. He totally embarrassed the girl, asking her if she feels unworthy because there's this young new Russian with great looks who has actually won a tournament. I wish she would have turned it around on him and asked him if he feels bad for riding on his father's coat-tails into the sportscasting business. Like I said, I was never an Anna fan, but she doesn't deserve to be treated rudely by the media. And for Jeremy's information, Maria S. has NEVER badmouthed Anna. He should stop making up quotes for ratings.

i dont forsee maria s being very big.Or winning a bunch of more events.I think it was a big fluke.

Anna buries maria s in the looks dept.Maybe when maria grows up...i think she is like 18 or 19 maybe...she will do fine.

But yes i think this is another instance of the media pumping up something that just wasnt what they thought it would be....and we the fans...just follow like ants in a colony.

That interview is a brutal...there was some low-blows that they could have laid off.I think that deserved a slap or something...maybe she gaveit to him off the air.Hopefully!

Heres to pretty tennis stars.

PS...i like that french girl...i dont know her name...she is not highly rated...but she is cute!

Ha ha ha...

That's an excellent point. Jeremy is AWFUL as a sports journalist, but his dad was one of the best. Odd how talent skips generations...

Joe Buck, on the other hand, is a fantastic announcer and commentator and would have made his dad proud.

Are you kidding me?? Maria S. buries Anna K. in the looks department. Anna K. looks like a little sock-puppet. Maria S. is much more glamorous. But's it's really a matter of taste, after all, isn't it?

yeah i guess if you are into high schoolers...i dont know but i like more of a mature look...actually looking at maria s...she looks like she could be 15...anna k is not all that she is played up to be.But she does bury maria s...maybe in a few years when she grows up she will be comparable.

Flat as a board...carpenters delight.I am not a carpenter...i am not delighted by that crap.

Personally, I'm a Mary Pierce guy, but between Anna and Maria, I find Maria more appealling overall. She's thinner, which I like, but she's got a glamorous look (good call, MGE!) to her that I like.

She looks older than she is, I think, whereas Anna always seems to look like she's a little girl playing "dress up."

But, looks aside, I still think Anna deserved much better treatment at the hands of Jeremy "I got my job because of a legacy" Schaap. She's not a great tennis player, but she's never been a bad interview. And she's sold TONS of ESPN's ads...
