It works fine for me. I'm not sure why it's not working for you. On some message boards, it would be possible that there was a new post in that forum/topic in the time between opening the main forum page and clicking on the little "Last Post" bit, but I doubt that's going to happen here.
I think that there are some "sticky" threads which are always at the top of the topic list. Had you checked for those? They're marked with a little exclaimation point.

The problem is that, based on the software itself and the fact that each user sets or doesn't set his own time stamp in his profile preferences, the times which show up on some of the pages are wrong. There are also one or two threads where the thread starter's post is first, but everybody else's show up in reverse order. I believe these will all be addressed soon. However, on the Main Menu page, the last post IS ALWAYS the last post which exists at the site, and all the rest go backwards in chronological order.

I have also seen this problem frequently. I think it should show the date where the most recent post occured versus when the topic started, which I see.
