As a media A2 student, I would really appreciate it, if I could have some opinions on the following question for my critical research based on crime and the media:

Are female criminals represented differently to male criminals?
(Myra Hindley & Ian Brady)
(Rosemary West & Fred west)
(Ian Huntley & Maxine Carr)

Bare in mind the crimes they have commited!

Many Thanks.

I perused a radical feminist forum a few months ago where they talked about that woman that killed her priest/preacher husband and how if the genders were reversed the media wouldn't have covered it nearly as extensively. I don't follow these kinds of stories generally, but I will say that I have a hard time believing that in 2007 men still sit around and conspire to hold down women. Maybe I'm naive. Probably more realistic is the general false paradigms the media seems to create to keep the masses separated from common goals - race tensions, left/right, male/female, autobot/decepticon (to paraphrase Mos Def.) I'm sure both genders are upset at the other for bullshit reasons.

Also, in the possible face of terrible irony in appearing misogynistic on this thread, what's with the sudden spike in female-centric threads across the boards? Seems strange.

Some people just want us to do their homework for them.

By the way, nice job on the Mos Def quote! Wink

I tried to PM one of the people, but didn't get a response. I noticed they all registered with email addresses from the same domain. Not to insult the intelligence of our members, but if you're getting your research from the MC forum, I don't think your paper is going to be all that great. The real joke is on these A2 Media Studies people. Ha!
