Oh, could I feel as I have felt, or be what I have been, Or weep as I could once have wept, o'er many a vanished scene; As springs in deserts found seem sweet, all brackish though they be, So, midst the withered waste of life, those tears would flow to me.

Conspiracy theory under other circumstances, becomes all too real with these fanatics....
I watched some Pakistani supporters throw balls and sticks at players after a poor match in Brisbane once, so if it wasn't Woolmer's wife as poisoner, my money's on a few rabid fanboys!!

If he was murdered, then it is surely the darkest, saddest incident in all of cricket history.
There's some good blogging on this topic over at cricinfo.com. The details of the money trail associated with this yrs World Cup are showing me a bigger cancer than I even dreamed...
Vale, Bob. He lost to cheats and thieves. Lets hope the truth comes out..

"I can't live the buttoned down life like all of you! I want it all: the terrifying lows, the dizzying highs, the creamy middles! Sure, I might offend a few of the blue-noses with my cocky stride and musky odor - oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called 'City Fathers' who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about what's to be done with this Monkey_Boy?!"

Thanx for the interest Monkey Boy, I didn't think anyone cared!
So, the Cup is into the quarter-finals, and the 8 teams left are Orstraylia (yay!), West Indies, England, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Ireland & South Africa.
the great southern land (Terra Australis) is favourite to win of course..hee hee...but the other contenders are Sri Lanka, N.Z. and Sth Africa.
England sux balls (you need to understand, that in sport, England & Oz are long standing adversaries of the highest order)...Ireland and Bangladesh are still little fish in a big pond, although very competitive. The WIndies have been a great dissapointment. They were for many yrs the most powerful team on the planet with shockingly good players.... N.B. The cup is actually being held in the West Indies ( or the Carribean to you..Jamaica, Antigua, St.Lucia et al).
So, this World Cup has had many problems sadly. Local ticket prices were set too high, and ridiculously, many games have had hardly any crowd at all; Bob Woolmer, the Pakistani coach was murdered, and India, the richest sporting team in the WORLD!! (richer than Man. Utd etc) got kicked out early...losing the Cup millions in revenue!!
Drama, drama, drama.....a lot of the various games are up on You Tube by the way. Just type in words like cricket, world cup, 2007 etc.....see if you can make head or tail of it all..

Australia and Sri Lanka have reached the World Cup final.
I am watching the game tonight in a crowded Chinese medical school dorm, with displaced Indians and Bangladeshi's.....no Sri's tho'...oh well!!
Orstraylia are looking at their 3rd straight World Cup Cup.

You'll be pleased to know, or perhaps not, that Australia won their 3rd successive Cup. It was a pretty good victory, and Australia certainly deserved their win, but it is a little dissapointing that Oz is consistently crushing everyone else.
Australia is considerably ahead of the pack, and it makes for a bit of one-sided-ness. No sport is benefitted by such a state of affairs.
The thing is, Australia has since about the mid 1970's, been on a campaign to make itself a sporting giant. Forget cultural or intellectual pursuits; they are underfunded and marginalised. But if yr a sportsperson of quality, ie. Ian Thorpe, you will be canonized. Sports academies have fortunes and we possess the best in all matters of sports training.
So, on we go, punching way above our weight in many sports, and those of us who love both Sport and the Arts remain deeply conflicted.
