Anybody interested in discussing the upcoming World Cup? I'm stuck in China with only cricinfo.com for company. So, come on people, lets take our run up, shine the ball and toss down a few overs...

I agree!!! Stupid Kiwis! HA HA HA!! Uh, wait are we talking about the animals or a sports team? I actually know nothing of cricket except for the little I've seen in the movies, but, hey, I'm not doing anything for the next couple of weeks while I recuperate from surgery. So, is there a particular sports channel I should tune into?

Mate!! Good to see ya in these parts. As you can see I was commenting ironically on the fact that I am posting on an North American dominated forum, and that few would be interested in this topic.....thus talking to myself.
But the thing is, I have no real idea of where you view any cricket in the States except perhaps ESPN???
Fox Sports has the copyright to the Cup, so....doesn't the U.S. have a Fox sports channel??
If you see any games, watch for Aussies like Gilchrist, Hussey & Ponting. They THWACK the proverbial leather off the ball. and , they are batsMEN, not "batters", as so many septic tanks like to call the guys with cricket bats in their hands. The Kiwi is of course the national symbol for Australia's little brothers...New Zealand. Oh, how we love to tease them!

I have do have Cable, so I'll keep a look out for it in the T.V. Guide. I'm sure if we follow Curling (which HAS got to be the worst sport ever!) we at least get some Cricket games. I look forward to enjoying them "with" you.

That, or eating one!
I'm pissed! I can't seem to find any games of Cricket! What time do they usually air out there? Maybe, I'm just not looking at the right time. Everytime I've turned to ESPN they are playing Basketball footage.

Mate, I couldn't tell you the times for the US viewings.
However, the series is happening in the West Indies (or Carribean to you) and the games start around 14:30 hrsGMT.
Track backwards from that to yr time zone...blah blah blah...good luck!!
An interesting sidenote is that a lot of potential West Indian cricketers are leaving the sunny climes of St.Lucia, Antigua etc. to play baseball or basketball in the States cos of the bigger money. Greed ruins sports, always has, always will.....

I know what ya mean. My mother was starting a fundraiser for the mentally retarded & she went to see Marcus Allen. He was a Chiefs football player at the time & he also owns a car dealership. First, he asked her out, of course she said, "no". Then, he asked what his cut was going to be. She told him this was for charity & he said, "no thanks". What kind of crap was that? It makes me wonder, everytime you see a sports jock "helping" the underpriviliged, are they getting paid to do that for the camera? I mean I already think they are getting WAY too much money for playing games intended for children, but to demand more in order to help children? That is truly sad.

Thats a sad reflection on humanity, and the same thing happens in Cricket.
Every now and again our game is filled with bookmakers and players doing dodgy deals. Often the players are protected and escape penalty, but it sure as hell sends a bad message to the kids that illegal gambling is an option for an already wealthy sports star.

Regrettably, I cannot join you in watching the games. Seems if I wanna see it, I gotta pay extra & the wife ain't havin' it. She's such a wet blanket. I missed out on getting a nearly 2 foot tall Classic Anniversary Optimus Prime (He's a Transformer. Do they have Transformers in Austrailia?) because of her! If I wasn't married, I'd have paid $60 in no time flat for that magnificent bastard, but NOOOOOO, I HAD to marry the mother of my children. Anyway, how's your team doin'?
