Oh, sure, put your career and academic advancement ahead of meeting strangers from the internet. Real nice, pE.
That was a heck of a roller coaster ride last night. I don't tend to get worked up too much over game one of any series. The Cards inexperience in Fenway did not prove to be the handicap I had feared. It broke my heart a little that Woody's first shot at pitching in the Series turned out to be a bad outing, especially after having a great game in the playoffs go to waste. I'm not surprised at some sloppy play by the Sox in the field, but very disappointed by our inability to capitalize on it. Finally, I was surprised and impressed by the Sox ability to shut down Pujols, Rolen, and Edmonds. That's quality pitching, right there.
Tonight's questions, of course, will Dr. Jeckyl or Mr. Hyde show up for St. Louis and can Shilling continue to pitch through what must be terrible, terrible pain.

"The Curse" seems to be breaking down, but anything is still possible. The Cards have to do something major to convince "the anti-curse Sox" that they have something to worry about. It's pretty amazing how much both teams hook up with the Dodgers. Tom Hanks invoked Bill Buckner's name tonight, and I already mentioned needing "payback" for Jack Clark's homer, and of course, he went on to become the Dodgers' batting coach. Good Luck, All You Gators.

The Red Sox looked completely at ease during the Series. They may have been half-asleep in the field the first two games when they made so many errors. They sure looked like they thought they couldn't lose. The Cards reminded me of the Dodgers (especially when playing against the Cards this year.) There was a palpable sense of futility (except for the middle of the first game.) Plus their starters just threw too many balls and kept giving up early runs. Congratulations to the Red Sox for their unprecedented year-end run of eight victories. They also swept the Angels. I have to congratulate the Cards for playing so well the last 120 games of the season, kicking my Dodgers' behinds and beating their rival Astros who seemed awfully tough. The Cards just ran into Destiny's Team this year.

Well, rockbotle is feeling fine today. I can talk about the lack of bunting against Schilling in game two or the wisdom (or lack thereof) of Walker bunting again Lowe in game four. I can talk about keeping Womack out of the leadoff spot two games too long. I can second guess the Series all winter long. But I'm not gonna. The Red Sox beat the Cardinals fair and square. They came back against impossible odds to beat the second-best team in baseball this season and then shut down the best team in baseball this season. 0-3, then eight straight. My Cards away hat is off to a Series well played and to the 2004 World Champions. Last night was funny. I expected to be a lot more down about it. But, in the middle of the sixth, my friend Eileen joined me at the bar. Eileen is a life long Sox fan. She sat between me and my friend Glass (a life long Yankees fan). Glass and I both agreed, it's hard to be too down when you're seeing somebody's baseball dreams come true. Congratulations, Red Sox. Well done. Ted Williams would be proud. This was a heart-breaker for me and my Yankees. Of course, the Yankees won the division with a 101-61 record, three games above the Red Sox. This was the infamous season where the Yankees had a 3-0 series lead before the BoSox roared back to win the ALCS. It’s pretty sad when I think about it but it happened and I must move on.

Of course for me, this was the greatest year ever. Beating the Cards in the WS was not nearly as special as coming back against the Yanks. I get goosebumps just thinking about it.
