i just don't understand. Why is the wii so great? They didn't launch with online or some of their better games like super smash bros and fire emblem, which was a huge mistake. But it doesn't matter, people still love it, why? probably because they're idiot 6 year old nintendo fan boys and girls. I agree, the wii is great for little children, but that's about it. I mean, do you know anyone 12 and up who can't wait for the next mario party to come out? face it fans, nintendo is going down. I want to know what you think, even though i know that people will say i'm an idiot because everyone loves the wii. Actually, come to think of it, if i get one person who agrees with me then it'll be worth it.

Did the Xbox launch online? No. Did the PS2 launch with its better games? No.

Here you're equating 'love' of a console with young age. This is fallacious and a non sequitur. You probably don't know what one of those is, so we'll skip past that. Assuming that anyone who likes X must be age Y is idiotic.

I do, not that it matters. Once again, you equate the Wii and its games with youth, when the Wii is quite clearly attracting many players of all ages.

Well, no, you don't. You just want people to agree with you. Anyone who disagrees with you will be labelled an "idiot 6 year old nintendo fan". Quite clearly, 'everyone' does not love the Wii, as you yourself plainly do not. And people may say you're an idiot, but I'd imagine that has more to do with your immaturity, poorly thought-out arguments and rudeness than dislike of a console.
(Happy 24 year old Wii owner).

I played to the Wii and I was very impressed. The Wii sports are very funny (at least when it's the first time you play) and when you play with great friends. The best thing about the Wii is the inovative new gaming experience. I thought I was playing real bowling because of the way you have to use your wiimote. The rayman game is great (a multiplayer game) and Zelda seems to be an excellent game, so are all the zelda games.
as a matter of fact i actually wasn't looking for someone to agree with me, i was looking for someone just like you. I wanted exactly what i asked at the top, what's so great? because everyone and i mean everyone i know loves it, i wanted to see what the big buzz about the wii was. To say what you said is kind of going a bit far but i see your points against what i said and with saying this i would like to state a 100% true fact, whether anyone believes me, i don't know but i say you entirely misunderstand what i'm doing here. as for some of things i said i would like to take back because as you said i'm putting across the wrong idea here. I just simply want to get to the bottom of the buzz about the wii and some of the things i said were simply because of one of my friends is an extreme wii lover and has been getting on my nerves lately. some facts however, i stand by, you talked about the xbox and the ps2, which are the old consoles. My point when i said that the wii didn't launch with live was this: Wii is currently the only next gen system without live. 360, PS3, and even nintendo's own ds have live but the wii does not. that was my point there. To sum up, i'd just like to say again that what we have here is a misunderstanding, and that i personally may consider buying a wii if people can convince me of the greatness behind the wii. I'd love to know what you think Geoff-B, though i doubt you'll come back after what i put down earlier.
I don't own a Wii and I will probably not buy any new console. But if I had a wii, I will probably buy:
Zelda - Twilight princess Super Mario Galaxy Super Smash Bros Brawl
I can't say anything else about the wii console and other new generation console. I think the best rpg games (and most of the RPG...) will be on the ps3, so the ps3 should be my favorite console. The biggest mistake of the N64: a serious lack of RPGs. The biggest mistake of the gamecube: a serious lack of RPGs. What should be the huge mistake about the Wii? Mmmm...
ya, that could be a problem for me seeing as rpg's are my fabourite type of video game, none the less, i think i might just have to buy the wii for some of the games coming out in march such as super smash bros, fire emblem (one good rpg) and probably the release title zelda. I would buy a ps3, but it's to expensive, the wii is the only affordable one for me, the only reason i got a 360 is because my bro would go halfsies on it
Simple. Don't buy the Wii, hold off on spending, and in three months you'll have enough $$$ to buy the PS3. If you really love RPG's you'll thank yourself.
You wanna know what people find in Wii? Something new, that's what. I've been playing video games since the Atari 2600 was 'new'...I've had countless platforms over the years. Wii has been a fun console to play, F U N...remember that's what games are supposed to be about - having fun for a period of time.
Are there tons of great games for it right now? No. As a whole the system is pretty solid - the virtual console is delivering the old school titles weekly, the news | weather and internet channels are live....all of those add quite nicely to the system.
What's coming down the road? Tons...for me it's going to be Metroid Prime 3 and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles...beyond that I'm opening my mind and will be exploring the new fun games that are sure to be coming.
Do I wish the system was stronger? Yeah, that'd be nice - but I'm hard pressed to be down on it because look at some of the Cube games...Resident Evil (released in 2002) still equals visually what is currently being, it might not be HD - but that doesn't mean it's crap. So while everyone is.....
you know what...if you can't play the system and see what is so great - then it can be explained to you. save your money for a PS3.
The Wii is cheap; that's one reason I got it. But the main reason I keep playing it is because it's innovative and for that matter fun. I am also a fan of RPGs, but haven't really found the time for them lately (and haven't really found any really good recent ones, anyway). But stuff that gets you to move around, get into the game, and laugh - that's why I like it. Wario Ware, for example, is hilarious and silly, even though it's not the most involved game ever. I have fun playing it.

I don't exactly want a PS3 thank you. I have a gamecube and an xbox but have yet to try a playstation-and i plan on keeping it that way. As for the whole new innovative stuff, i don't think-no, i'm sure i won't like it. I'm into the classic press buttons and it works controller, i may still be open to it if someone convinces me, but it'll take a lot of convincing.
One other thing i missed, no one has defended the live part of the wii. They said they would have it, they didn't, and now they're the only one without it, which is a problem for them.
I purchased the Wii over a week ago, and have since rented a few games (Zelda, Wario, SpongeBob, Rayman) and I have yet to find a single one that is any fun. The only game I play with my Wii is Wii Sports.
I know that people will say that Zelda is the best game ever, but I was so put off by the bad graphics, that I could not play the game long enough to see if it was any real fun (the Xbox 360 did this to me). Actually, I found the Zelda game on the SuperNES a lot better than this one.
I will give Nintendo time to bring out better titles, but if they still do not have any real fun by this fall, I will sell my Wii. So far, it was not worth the $400 (console and extra controller).

What's wrong with Playstation? And you KNOW you won't like the Wii remote? How? Your awesome powers of observation? I'm pretty sure that in your life there have been things you were sure you wouldn't like, but found out quite the opposite.....don't lie...you know it's true!!!!

Live? You mean online gaming? No, it hasn't launched yet - the Wii is online right now though - just no 'frag fests' at the moment. This isn't 'secret' knowledge....the online gaming aspect has not gone live as of yet.
Why should anyone do your thinking for you? Go to your local game shop and try the Wii....it's not like they aren't available to demo for yourself. As far as being button presser (your words, not mine)...if you live on Brown St. all your life and never go over to Red St. - you might just live your whole life and miss out on all kinds of great things.
although I do think that the wii is slightly overrated, it is with a good company. I actually own a wii and I: a) finished high school. b) DO NOT have Carpal Tunnel/Arthritis c) have a girlfriend/life d) have a job e) have not declared a $600 bankruptcy
I have owned most systems since the late 70's. Although I play alot of the 360, I have a Wii not only for the latest games, but the classic titles as well. I love the fact that you can play bowling with anyone young or old that comes to visit. A problem with games today is the multi-button combinations needed to create a move. The Wii controller simplifies that. Finally my wife will play games again that aren't hard to control. We love the fact that having the Wii plugged into our bedroom's plasma that we can surf the net for news, weather and the latest YouTube videos. True gamers appreciate all systems and as you get older, you love remaniscing (spell?) about the classics your grew up with. Wii has brought those games back to share with our kids. Our only complaint is we can't play the games we loved the most on the console: Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island series, 7th Guest, (any game that makes you use your mind to solve clues).
ok cortez123456789. i'm 17 years old and this is why i bought a wii on launch day: 1. to own it 2. Zelda 3.Virtual console games (mario and more Zelda) 4.Super Smash Bros. Brawl Online i know that online isnt till summer or something of this year but to tell you the truth i really dont care for online that much. also, you think it's hard to find someone over 6 or 12 to looking foward to the next mario party game, try someone who is 17 and is looking foward to the next pokemon game. (thats me ). i was also getting bored with games today. i didnt play a game for 6 months before i got the wii. now i play everyday.
Think about it. Its only £180 and comes with the wii sports game which demonstrates the nintendos new controller's abilities excellently!
The games available are also great, I bought Red Steel, Zelda and NFS Carbon and aswell as them having great gameplay they are really FUN to play!
I own an Xbox 360 aswell and i would definitely buy for example NFS carbon for the wii as opposed for the 360 as the motion sensored innovative wiimote is so immensely fun to play games with! The wiimote is used as a steering wheel, a gun, sword and virtually ANYTHING! There is no limit to what the Wii can do and that is why everyone buys the wiis as opposed to the 360 and PS3. btw the PS3 is a pile of shit so dont waste your money (thats a lot of money too) on one.
Also as for the part about them appealing for 5 year olds. a load of shit. i'm 14 now and still the Wii OWNS. It's for all ages which is why it is selling so many.
