Yup, should be awesome. There are tons of youtube videos for it (with Japanese commentary obviously) already and the final character list is out there too.

I Know I am soo excited, I wish they would stop postponing it. I'm debating watching the videos on Youtube because I think I want to be surprised about stuff when the game comes out

I already have the game; have played it for about 3 hours. As a person who owned SSB1 and SSBM each on day 1, I think I have the credibility to say that this game is incredible. The battle system has been perfected; and after Brawl there is no reason to ever go back to Melee or SSB1 ever again. I would explain more, but I would rather have this done in a question-answer format. So, if anyone has general questions pertaining to VS. mode, feel free to ask.

yeah I've got a few questions.
First, does brawl maintain the fast-paced fighting of melee? Does the system feel "right"?
Second, are the characters balanced? This was a problem in melee, bowser vs. fox was hardly fair.
Third and finally, does brawl uphold the depth of gameplay that could be found in melee, A.K.A wavedashing, combos, ledgegaurading, etc...

One thing I’m wondering about Brawl, are all the characters more diverse and individual? By this I mean, In Melee, there was a lot of replicas of the same character with minor differences, i.e. Falco/Fox, Ganondorf/Captin Falcon, Dr Mario/Mario, Young Link/Link, Roy/Marth and the most pointless of the lot Pichu/Picachu. Although I did enjoy the novelty, I have to admit I was a little disappointed when I discovered that Ganondorf was just a slower but more powerful Captin Falcon.

what exactly do you mean by wavedashing?

No, they have found a middle ground between SSB1 and Melee. They recognized that the gameplay of Melee was too hectic, and as a result not as "fun" as SSB1 was, thus they reverted back to the old pace while maintaining the "smoothness" of Melee. This is the best way to describe it. quote: Second, are the characters balanced? This was a problem in melee, bowser vs. fox was hardly fair.
Yes, they are definitely more balanced! However, the crappy characters from Melee still seem a bit crappy. For example, Bowser and Yoshi are still a bit weak compared to Marth and Fox - however, they are still PLAYABLE, which is a big upgrade from Melee! I definitely enjoy playing as Bowser. quote: Third and finally, does brawl uphold the depth of gameplay that could be found in melee, A.K.A wavedashing, combos, ledgegaurading, etc...
All of these things have either been downgraded or eliminated completely. This time around, Smash will depend on your skills that you're SUPPOSED to use as opposed to glitch tactics. Fast-paced combos are harder to pull off (i.e. the opponent has more time to fight back in between each hit), however, combos on a large scale have been amplified quote: One thing I’m wondering about Brawl, are all the characters more diverse and individual? Unfortunately there are still some clones, such as Link and Toon Link, Falco and Fox, but that's about it honestly. Mario, Wario, Luigi are completely distinct, as are Ike and Marth. Ganondorf is still disappointingly similar to C.Falcon for my tastes - they did not take any advantage of the moves he had in OOT and TP.

I'd say Link and Toon Link are pretty distinct, but they were even in Melee. You just couldn't play them the same way. Young Link had too much air game and Link had too much power to use the same tricks with each.
Mid-air dodging now works the way it SHOULD have in Melee, which in my mind makes up and more than makes up for the slight reduction in overall game speed. The first time you dodge an attack mid-air and counterattack before hitting the ground, you'll find yourself agreeing. The physics exploits have been nerfed (although already a few more have apparently been discovered, but nothing like the scale present in Melee).
Also, Pit rocks. He fights like Kirby should have: Not guarding edges from the land side, but from the abyss side, and recovering when and where he pleases, thankyouverymuch.

Brawl comes out here in a week (Australia sucks,) and I can’t wait! So far, I’ve been the undisputed master of all of Brawls predecessors. No one could defeat me. *thumps closed fist upon table* NO ONE! And soon the moment of reckoning will be at hand, I shall obtain Brawl from the heavens, master it’s every fibre, conquer every one of you all around the world, and then reign supreme I tell you, SUPREME!!!MWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAAAAAA!!!

Finally picked up my copy of SSBB this morning and so far I’m loving it, I can’t stop playing it. The only disappointment I’ve encountered so far is the WiFi lag is horrific. I’ve been looking up on the net for info on this, and it seems as though it’s a common problem. Does anyone have any official info on this? I assume that this is a problem on Nintendo’s side, since I tried to call their customer service centre and SSBB was the only game out of the four digits of options on the phone service that had a entire line completely dedicated to it, of which I was on hold for like 20 minutes and then gave up, and I’ve never experienced any WiFi lag problems like this with any other game so far. Either way, I’m going to tweak some things tonight to try and speed it up. If the problem is on their end, I hope they fix the issue promptly.
