I am so angry with Ninty, I just, I just..I just may write them an angry letter!
How dare they advertise the Wii as this lounge room friendly, invite yr neighbour over party monster console and then take away THE best thing about MK, namely local multiplayer!!!
For Donkey's sake, I don't wanna play with strangers over the net. I want my stinky mates beside me on a ratty old couch so I can laugh at them as I get that umpteenth golden boost; I wanna see them fling down the controller in disgust as they get whacked with a red shell right before they are about to win!!
Ninty, you have royally fucked up. The Kart is not a game to be messed with...
Oh, could I feel as I have felt, or be what I have been, Or weep as I could once have wept, o'er many a vanished scene; As springs in deserts found seem sweet, all brackish though they be, So, midst the withered waste of life, those tears would flow to me.

I read this in a review and it seems to indicate that local m/p is gone, but perhaps not upon closer reading......still, you don't have to be so insulting like some twit 10 y.o.

Local MP isnt gone, but from what I heard, they made some pretty silly decisions about it. I dont remember exactly what was said though.
I looked it up. Local MP sucks because the tracks are just too big, the game is designed around a twelve person race, so if you turn off AI the track or baloon battle or whatever is pretty much empty.
Well, at least there is split screen. I was pretty worried there for a bit. So, hopefully with 4 friends it'll be ok. Thanx WW

I’ve been playing this non stop for the past 2 weeks; it’s pretty much every Mario Kart in one, with heaps of unlockable characters and karts. They've also re-done and added in heaps of classic levels from every version of Mario Kart.
You can now use motorcycles, which are slightly different from karts in that a motorcycle only has one stage of boost on your power sliding, but you can get a boost at any point by doing a wheelie, I’ve found motorcycles preferable for this reason. I think you can no longer manually toggle your joy stick left and right to power up your stages of boost when power sliding, it seems like you just have to keep sliding and waiting for it to happen automatically, which is odd because I always select manual, maybe I’m just doing it wrong, but if not, it’s a bit disappointing.
The real highlight of this game for me is the online feature, for years I’ve dreamed of challenging people all around the world, and now I finally can! You can also enter competitions, and unlock extra stuff, which is really sweet. I have a cable connection with a wireless router, and I run my Wii wireless. Using this setup, it’s been so easy to log on, initially it only takes a few minutes to find a group, and on top of that, so far I haven’t experienced any lag whatsoever, the game runs just as smoothly as it does offline.
My only gripe with this game is the weapons can get a bit excessive at times. So far, I’ve unlocked half of the expert staff time trial ghosts, yet I still find myself struggling to win races in 150cc at times, because no matter how well I race, or how far ahead I am of the pack, bad luck kicks in, and I just get pounded over and over i.e. I get hit with a leader shell, then with a POW, then someone using lightning, then someone uses a squid (which sprays black oil all over your field of vision) then by this point, the pack of racers have caught up and someone rams me off the track 10 second before the end of the race. This may sound like I’m exaggerating, but I’m not, in fact, I’m under stating it, as sometimes it can be even worse.
In a way, this is great for online gaming, it makes it easier for anyone to have a chance, but it’s also a real prick at times, I always felt that the leader shell and lightning were enough unavoidable annoyances to have to worry about when you’re in first place, now it just feels a bit overboard.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all...
Imagine everything I say as if it were spoken to you with the voice of Joe Pesci.
Vote Jamshed.

Local MP plays no differently on MKwii than it has on any of the others. The reviewer was just being a chump, and the OP was a chump for believing him.
