They're absolutely the funniest films next to a comic strip in the news paper. I hope you appreciate that he is one of the funniest men on the earth.

Adam Sandler has been a hard comedian for me to accept though over time and with his increasing resume of movies my opinion has been changing. I personally detest most movies of the dumb, mindless, brainless, vulgar humorous type, especially those that are directed to the male teenage mind. I prefer thoughtful, intelligent, witty humor along with some physical comedy.

This said, movies such as "Billy Madison" (1995), "Happy Gilmore" (1996), "The Waterboy" (1998) are examples that really don't interest me. I deliberately skipped his effort in "You Don't Mess with the Zohan" (2008).

His movies that reveal a more serious actor, with substantive, thoughtful comedic flourishes I can appreciate such as "The Wedding Singer (1998) for which he was nominated for the Amercian Comedy Award,

There are other comedies that I found to have some substance, but not on the top of my list such as "Big Daddy" (1999), "Mr. Deeds (2002). "Little Nicky" (200) was a strange, but in same ways curiously different, difficult but creative and solid effort. He was decent in "Click" (2006) and "Bedtime Stories (2008).

His efforts were average in "The Longest Yard" (2005).

Adam Sandler than came into his own in mainstream, popular audience comedy that was a solid hit in "Anger Management" (2003).

Personally, Adam Sandler demonstrated his potential as a first rate actor and comedian in "Punch-Drunk Love" (2002) and for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe, and then held his own opposite Drew Barrymore in the respectable "50 First Dates" (2004).

Unfortunately I missed his performance in "Spanglish" (2004).

As for one of my best impressions of Adam Sandler came from his dramatic performance in "Reign Over Me" (2007).

I can't say that Adam Sandler is my most favorite comedian but he's come a long ways. But there are many movie comedians that are far worse.

My top preferences for comedians would likely go to (in no particular order):

Meryl Streep
Bill Murray
Meg Ryan
Robin Williams
Jim Carrey
Ann Hathaway
John Malkovich
Sandra Bullock
Tom Hanks
Drew Barrymore
Hugh Grant
Audrey Hepburn
Gary Grant
Steve Carell
Julia Roberts
Nicole Kidman
Robert Downey Jr.
John Cusack
