Not only was July 20th my birthday but it was also the release date of a movie that I had looked forward to for a very long time. So, I went to go see Chuck and Larry last night, and I was dissapointed. I don't mean to offend anyone on the message board and if I am, then I apologize, but I just can't support the pro-gay message. I knew that it would have one, but I didn't think they would portray it in such a way that was demeaning to christians. the christians were made out to be the bad guys, while the homo's were supposed to be the good guys. But other than that, the jokes were a B- to me. I think Click just gave me too much hope for an Adam Sandler comedy. I loved Click, but I just couldnt bring myself to like Chuck and Larry very much. It was offensive and not extremely funny. Not to say the whole movie wasnt funny. They're were a couple laugh out loud parts that i won't mention because it's kind of a surprise. If I had to tell someone if they were gonna see it or not. I would say if you are fine with homosexuals being represented in a positive manner, then yes. But if you are a heterosexual who is proud of it and believes in it. Then no, maybe wait for a rental.

But I can't give you this case, it don't belong to me. Besides, I've already been through too much shit this morning over this case to hand it over to your dumb ass.

I wasn't aware these two things were mutually exclusive. Is it that difficult to be heterosexual (and proud of it) and be okay with gay people being portrayed in a positive manner?
I'm not sure which is more offensive: the fact that you didn't like that "the homo's were supposed to be the good guys" or that you actually found Click funny.

Oh, could I feel as I have felt, or be what I have been, Or weep as I could once have wept, o'er many a vanished scene; As springs in deserts found seem sweet, all brackish though they be, So, midst the withered waste of life, those tears would flow to me.

I'm sure both movies are terrible. The only reason I'd foreseeably see Chuck & Larry is to bask in the infinite hotness of Jessica Biel.
I was forced to sit through Click, which I found stupid even by the low standards set by previous Adam Sandler movies. The only universe in which Click was clever is the one in which It's A Wonderful Life, Big, and every other "be careful what you wish for" movie doesn't exist. At the end, I was wishing I had a magical remote control so I could rewind the last two hours of my life.

even though we're in an argument, I will say im impressed by your rebuttle, but I would think that if you knew that Adam Sandler's comedies are made to make you laugh at stupid things, there are some clever lines, but it is mostly crude humor, then you wouldn't have even watched Click since you talk like you dislike that type of humor

I don't mind crude humor at all. I just didn't find the jokes that funny (or crude for that matter). I don't think any of Sandler's films are great, but at least the likes of Happy Gilmore and The Waterboy had some really funny moments.
I think Sandler played it too safe with Click. You could tell it was a bigger budget movie that tried to appeal to a wider audience, and as a result it just became a big ol' pile of blandness.

I completely agree, other than the hetero/homo thing, the movie was just bad as a whole, it had some pretty funny parts, but nothing compared to The Waterboy or Happy Gilmore, i was extremely dissapointed

Wait, wait, wait. You LIKED"The Waterboy", but somehow there is a movie worse than that? "The Waterboy" has got to be the most annoying movie EVER MADE! I can't get through 5 minutes of that awful voice! Good gravy, man! All of his movies are pretty much the same: Sandler gets in over his head, he gets angry alot, he must overcome ridiculous odds in order to win, & very sappy endings. I almost forgot, you also have (poorly directed) people from the crowd hollaring little goofy phrases at Sandler for laughs. I've enjoyed one Adam Sandler movie, & that was "Happy Gilmore". I never really liked any of his other pictures. ("The Longest Yard" doesn't count as one of his movies because it's a remake. Although, you can tell he put his hands all over the script.) I'll probably end up seeing this at some point on DVD because my wife is an Adam Sandler fan. I'm sure, like with every single one of his comedies, there will be a few laughs, but nothing close to making me wanna watch it again.
"I can't live the buttoned down life like all of you! I want it all: the terrifying lows, the dizzying highs, the creamy middles! Sure, I might offend a few of the blue-noses with my cocky stride and musky odor - oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called 'City Fathers' who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about what's to be done with this Monkey_Boy?!"

I like how everyone seems to be more offended by Blswylde's affection for Adam Sandler comedies than they are of the clearly homophobic tone of his entire post.
I guess that just shows how terrible Adam Sandler films (excluding Punch Drunk Love) really are.
yeah, all im sayin is that i was offended by this film, I knew that it would have a pro-gay message in the film because you can't just make an anti-gay movie in hollywood without a huge deal happening, but I didn't like the anti-hetero message, it made us all out like horrible people, and yes, i do find adam sandler to be a funny person, even though all of his movies are basically the same just with a different obstacle to cross over, but all of his movies I found funny, this one just wasnt funny to me but maybe twice, so, im not a homophobe, I just don't like homo's putting down straight people

I know this isn't the most appropriate thing to say, but: You are an idiot.

This is reminding me of that debate on the forums here from a while back when someone thought the Jews were out to get Mel Gibson. It's ridiculous. The gay community is not on a mission to "put down straight people". Chuck and Larry was made by straight people so in reality it would be straight people putting down straight people. I guess

I haven't seen the movie, but I somehow highly doubt this message is in the film. I've had a few gay and lesbian friends over the years, and I've never known any of them to "put down the heterosexual lifestyle". Gay people aren't trying to make you gay or convince you that being gay is superior to being straight, they just want to be treated the same way you, as a straight person, would like to be treated. I too am curious as to how old you are, as the above really seems to be something I'd feel the need to tell a child, not an adult.

ok, i dont know if i just took the movie the wrong way, but everyone that I've talked to feels the same way that has seen the movie, so my advice, is go see the movie before you make assumptions based on past experiences with homosexuals, and im 20 and a sophmore at Appalachain State University
