I recently purchased the Mystery Men DVD even though I had never actually seen the film before and even though a friend of mine told me he didn't like it that much.
Maybe I'm alone here but I loved this movie! i thought it was hilarious, original, well acted and very entertaining.
Mystery Men is the story of 3 crappy superheroes who have to save Captain Amazing (a Superman-style superhero) from the hands of evil super-villain Casanova Frankenstein.
Ben Stiller is Mr. Furious, his power: he gets...angry.
Hank Azaria is The Blue Raja, he throws forks and the occasionnal spoon. William H. Macy is The Shoveler, he...has a shovel.
The "Amazing" (sorry) supporting cast includes: Greg Kinnear (on top form) as Captain Amazing, Paul Reubens as the flatulent The Spleen, Geoffrey Rush as the evil Casanova Frankenstein and Eddie Izzard as one of his henchmen, the Disco Boys.
This is a fine, funny comedy that mixes very different styles of comedy and humours.
What did you guys think of it? Who is your favourite superhero (or villain) in this film?

It wasn't great. 5 out of ten

That's weird. All the people I've talked to who have seen this film said it was ok but not THAT good, just like you.
I know the film itself wasn't a masterpiece but I just thought it was really funny!!

I thought it was really funny at least when I saw it. I saw it around two years ago or so and remeber it being hilarious. I have to see it again.

LOL..i have to agree with Mister E. The movie isn't new, but it's good. I was out renting movies about a month ago and came upon Mystery Men..my friends were all like "god, don't rent that...STUPID" Well, i rented it anyway, and we all got so many laughs out of it. I recommend renting it if you haven't seen it yet...and if you have seen it, go watch it again!
