I enjoy most romantic comedies, especially when wanting to watch something light or in a stressful mood, needing something cheery or a light bit funny.
Share your favorite and least-liked romantic comedies.
My top favorites include: "Only You" I love Marisa Tomei. "Sleepless In Seattle" "The Sure Thing" "It Could Happen to You" "Annie Hall" "French Kiss" "The Wedding Singer" "50 First Dates" "A Little Romance" "Sabrina" (the Audrey Hepburn version) "Forget Paris" "Roxanne" "Comrades: Almost A Love Story" "The Road Home" (The token romantic drama. Zhang Ziyi is so incredible in this, her brightness transcends drama and comedy.)

No they don't! I split up my list between "classics," and those more contemporary. I agree with all of mark's, so I won't repeat those. I'm a huge Cary Grant fan, as I'm sure you'll see. I think "Say Anything" would top my list for Romantic Comedies.
I'd also put "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" on the list. It's probably the most bizarre romantic comedy ever, but that's what it technically is.

Faves: The Awful Truth The Lady Eve Some Like It Hot Say Anything... High Fidelity Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Philadelphia Story The Goodbye Girl
Least Faves: You've Got Mail Notting Hill Pretty Woman Runaway Bride Sleepless in Seattle Holiday Inn (the whole Lincoln's Birthday blackface sequence makes my skin crawl)
I don't make a distinction between the old romantic comedies and the new ones. Each film is what it is and comparing them is just comparing two different mentalities and styles of filmmmaking. Apples and oranges, some like one or the other, some like both.
I might as well also note that unlike apparently most everyone else I've ever talked to who grew up in the 1980s, I find the films of John Hughs to be insufferable. Anyone feel the same way?

"The Breakfast Club" and "Ferris Beuler's Day Off" are both good. But, I admit they're a little weird to look at as an adult. These kids' problems seem very laughable. But if you think back to when you were in your teens, you could totally relate.

Prime (2005) released this past week more than exceeded my expectations of an excellent romantic comedy. Based on the laughter gauge, my own and the theater audience, this received the most uproarious laughter of any comedy this year of the genuine, almost crying kind. This romantic comedy is authentic, sincere in its approach to relationships and even the therapuetic model used by Meryl Streep is adequate without the over the top stereotype. A lot of the tension and the comic medium is obtained through off the cuff comments and also the acting performances and situation. There are the unspoken moments that give this movie special meaning. This movie is a richly meaningful in its handling of the topic of relations between couples, between parents and their children, and even in terms of therapy. This is the top romantic comedy of the year.

This is not my favorite genre of film, but if I had to choose a couple that were of good quality I would offer Moonstruck, Chocolat, and for a reason that perplexes me, "Some Kind of Wonderful" with Eric Stoltz, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Lea Thompson. I think Stoltz plays his character well and I indentified with the exclusive power of cliques. But, honestly, I love the use of the Stone's song "Amanda Jones" while Keith prepares for his big date.
Boy, you got to carry that weight a long time!
