I just went and saw Superbad. I can honestly say I've never laughed so hard in a theater before in my life. The jokes were coming on a constant and they all succeeded in true Apatow fashion. I would definitely say this is a R movie for a reason though so don't take the younger ones. But for anyone 15 or over they will love it. The acting is top-notch. This movie takes a common premise and gives it that Apatow touch and makes it special. For fans of Knocked Up or 40-Year-Old-Virgin this is a must see. Or for anyone in general that enjoys vulgar humor. I loved every minute and I was basically pleading for it to not end even after its 2 hr 10 minute span. Go see this film!

Pulp Fiction (1994)

Jules: Normally, both your asses would be dead as fucking fried chicken, but you happen to pull this shit while I'm in a transitional period so I don't wanna kill you, I wanna help you. But I can't give you this case, it don't belong to me. Besides, I've already been through too much shit this morning over this case to hand it over to your dumb ass.

Ah, I've yet to see this unfortunately. Some friends of mine saw it (separately) - one was telling me in fairly vivid detail about the guy's phallic obsession as a kid, that pretty much killed me.

The thing about Apatow, he makes a lot of movies that are easy to make poorly, but he keeps pulling them off with a frightening consistency, and maybe an even more frightening pace. Maybe it's the cynic in me, but my criticism of him...if he doesn't start to branch out substantially more in his subject matter I might have to dismiss him as a one trick pony. Frowner

But yeah, looks great, can't wait to see it.

i couldn't breathe during the phallic obsession scene.

i don't think i've ever laughed that much in a movie. i usually don't laugh at jokes in movies. rogen and his buddy (name?) really did a great job of writing a natural and fucking hilarious script with a crazy and unpredictable plot. i like to judge movies based on the moments after the movie is over (at least comedies) . with this one, i was just really happy for a few hours after.

just go see this movie its definitely worth it, if you're a guy. i'm not sure if girls would like the level of vulgarity (an 11).

The over-the-top vulgarity was great, but some of the lines were just brilliant. My favorite:

"Are you out of your mind? Look at Jules' past dating record: She dated Dan Remming who's had a six pack since kindergarten, Jason Stone who looks like fucking Zach Morris, and Matt Mayer, Matt Mayer, he's the sweetest guy ever. Have you ever stared into his eyes? It was like the first time I heard The Beatles." -Seth

This movie is fan-friggin'-tastic! How are there NOT more comments on this flick? I mean, 51 comments for "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" and only 4 for this?

I wasn't sure what to expect, but it seems like they grabbed The Dude, Walter and Donny from "The Big Lebowski" and went back to their childhood years! Honestly, didn't anyone else get that vibe everytime Seth became enraged at Fogell? I can actually see The Dude being alot like Evan in his teenaged years before experimenting with drugs in his 20's! Big Grin

The cops were great! At first, I was all, "Oh... COME ON! NOBODY'S THAT STUPID!", but, by the end, it actually made sense and I couldn't complain. I especially loved the little touch of the dispatcher saying, "That means you too, 92!" Big Grin It let you know these guys are known for goofin' off, but the department puts up with 'em anyway. Probably because of how well they work with teens. Wink

The best thing about this movie (besides all of the hilarious jokes throughout) is the ending. They didn't go the "American Pie" route and have every main character suddenly get laid. (Come on, fellas, how many Friday or Saturday nights were TRULY successful at that age? Not that many for me. Frowner) For Evan to take the high road and not take advantage of a drunken girl he likes (a common scenario for me in those years Roll Eyes) and for Jules to not want to be with a drunken Seth... well, that's just unheard of in teen comedies of this nature!

The extras on the second disc are even better! You have the multiple ad-libbed lines Seth used when describing sex with Jules and such. I especially loved the line "...and they were making love with their mouths" from Officer Slater! Big Grin There's even a "cruiser cam" section where you get to see the 2 cops with different perps in the backseat. There were several where I just couldn't stop laughing! And if you love Michael Cera (Oh, man, I LOVE his "nervous, insecure teenager". This dude is soooo typecast with me, but it's a good thing!), there's a short film called "Everybody Hates Michael Cera" that is priceless! "Just do my make-up, Kim." Big Grin

Sure, I might offend a few of the blue-noses with my cocky stride and musky odor - oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called 'City Fathers' who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about what's to be done with this Monkey_Boy?!"

This movie has been routinely dismissed by many as just another 'teen' flick, full of dirty jokes and attempting to go where no grossness has gone before.

But, few have pointed out that its' an incredibly moral film.
In its beating little heart, its a modern day parable of love in the face of conceit, foolishness and fashion.

It has been suggested that the true love story is between the boys, and I agree.
Not that they are gay, but that the love they have for each other is finally acknowledged and articulated, teaching them that chasing girls was just a distraction from what really needed to be pursued.

Its fucking funny of course, but look beyond the jokes, and you'll see a tale of doing the right thing when everyone else is doing the wrong thing.

You might not believe it, but I actually told my friend nearly the same thing! If it weren't for the language and sex talk, I'd let my children watch it. Ya know, if it were completely different, but exactly the same! Wink

I want a sequel- McLovin. Co-starring Katherine Heigl. No "Seth"s allowed, actors or characters.

I really liked this movie, though probably not as much as 40-Year Old or Knocked Up. My only real complaint is Jonah Hill's character, Seth. It is so ridiculously unbelievable that Seth could have possibly been unpopular in high school. I *knew* that kid in school. The loud mouth, quick-witted guy that all the girls secretly loved, and the jocks secretly envied. He was not picked on or otherwise thought of as uncool.

Michael Cena is proving to be a comic genius, what with this, Juno and his work in Arrested Development.
