I guess he just couldnt get no respect. Rodney Dangerfield, one of my father's favorite comedians, died today. Not a huge surprise. I had the pleasure of reading an interview with him in Rolling Stone. It was surprisingly poignant. The man was a mess! At 82 he was still smoking blunts and being Rodney Dangerfield. I guess if you gotta go thats the best way to...
...I'm gonna go watch "Caddyshack" now and Im gonna cry.
I remember Rodney Dangerfield on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson a gazillion times. As far as films, I think his best is easily "Back to School", which I don't remember anyone here even mentioning, and "Easy Money" is funny where he teams up with Joe Pesci.
I give him respect because although he qualified as a performer who basically always played himself, he was usually funnier and wiser than you'd expect. Yeah, how about a double bill of "Psycho"/ "Back to School"? Or maybe, you can watch "The Vikings" and "Easy Money". I don't want to guess who's next.

Another PERSONAL FAVORITE, but not a great movie, is his "Rover Dangerfield".
