I'm the only person I've ever talked to who thinks Meaning of Life was the best Python movie, but there's gotta be someone here who agrees with me.

Right?

I don't agree, but I remember Vykromond said that several months ago. They're all pretty close, but I still have to go with "M.P. and the Holy Grail."

P.S. It's a good thing you agree with yourself when you talk.

Tough call, but I'd say Holy Grail is #1 and Meaning of Life is #2 - sorry...

I saw "Meaning of Life" when I was pretty young, and I didn't like it that much, probably because I just didn't get a lot of it, especially the sexual references. "Holy Grail" however, remains one of my favorite comedies of all time, and I laugh and laugh every time at it's greatness and originality. I never saw "Life of Brian" but heard it was pretty good. Nobody has mentioned it yet, I'd like to hear what people think about it.

Holy Grail was probably the funniest of the films, Life of Brian is probably the most complete of the three and Meaning of Life is the strangest. At first my favourite was, like Crash, the Meaning of Life but over the last few years I've started to prefer Life of Brian, mainly because of the three it's the only one that could actually be called a real movie and not just a collection of skits.

That said they're all great movies so in the end its just about personal preference.

I can't go past "Life of Brian".

Not only funny, but clever as well.

This movie has something to say on so many levels.

Life of Brian for me. But they're all great.

It's extremely close between Life of Brian and Holy Grail, the script in Life of Brian is amazing but the actions in Holy Grail are hilarious, love the Black Knight scene.

I've got a different view. In my opinion Life of Brian is the 'Best' one. For me the Holy Grail is the funniest.

Holy Grail, definitely.

I suppose "Holy Grail" is my favorite MP film, though I haven't seen any MP movies in awhile. Was Jabberwocky a Python film or did it only feature a few Python members? I always liked that one and had forgotten about it til I saw this thread.

Jabberwocky isn't a Monty Python movie, but it was directed by Terry Gilliam and had Michael Palin in the lead with Gilliam, Terry Jones (and even Neil Innes) in cameos.

Hmm...I'd go with Holy Grail.

Holy Grail is the one I could quote practially every scene nearly from start to finish.

But, I'd take some of the Flying Circus episodes over it.

So there I was in Borders with my holiday gift card, selecting a cd (The Vacancies), a magazine (newest New Depression) and off to the dvd section to select a film, where I clumsily bumped into the rack, almost knocking Jabberwocky to the floor. 'It's a sign', I decided, and added the dvd to my pre-paid purchases. Ah the influence of a metacritic forum thread! My favorite Pythonesque but not a Python movie. Too bad I didn't have any rats-on-a-stick to munch on while watching the film tonight.

Definitely Life of Brian for me. For some reason, the movie gets funnier every time I watch it while Holy Grail gets less funny.
