Dunno. "Cry the Beloved Country," is the only thing that comes to mind, but I don't think that's right.

"They say when trouble comes close ranks, and so the white people did"
I googled it. I've never read it. I have heard wonderful things about it, and do love post colonial literature. I've read some wonderful anglo-indian literature, eg., in the last several years. Books like "The Death of Vishnu," and "A Suitable Boy." Great reads.

Nel mezzo del cammin di nostra vita Mi ritrovai per una selva oscura, Che la diritta via era smarrita.
In the middle of the journey of our life I came to myself within a dark wood where the straight way was lost.

I'm trying to attract new talent, PRG. If we make 'em too hard, we scare everyone away.

I think this one is from Dante's Inferno. The Italian translation comforts me that I'm probably right. If this one stayed up there four days though, it seems as though this game is dying a slow death. I'll try to post another one later. If somebody else wants to jump in, feel free.

Nicely played. I've never read any Nabokov other than "Lolita." Anybody have any recommendations?

I've only read three of his novels along with his short stories, but I would highly recommend Pale Fire. I liked it better than Lolita and just barely more than Ada or Ardor: A Family Chronicle.

I have read a few of his novels beginning with the most widely-known, Lolita; I have also read three other ones entitled Pale Fire, Bend Sinister and Transparent Things. All are pretty solid and good reads. I haven’t read any short stories though.
See, I knew I was more than just a Harry Potter reader, although I am not ashamed to admit that I am reading them!
