I thought this one wasn't that hard. It's from Don Quixote, and it's one of the most famous aphorisms from it. Ok, let's see if you like this one: "Better sleep with a sober cannibal than a drunken Christian. "Really, is it just the two of us? Doesn't this sort of lessen the fun a bit? I've actually never read Don Quixote, although I plan to someday after I read the other ten or so books on my list.

I would without reservation or hesitation recommend all of his great speculative works of the 1890's. What a run he had: The Time Machine The Island of Dr. Moreau The Invisible Man War of the Worlds. Artists from all disciplines have been inspired by these books. Inexhaustible and beautifully written. "Not to go on all-Fours; that is the Law. Are we not men?" Over to the next beast to make his/her mark.....

Sadly, my only exposure to Wells' works have been through the movies, and, on the whole, I don't guess they've done him justice. OK. Give us the next quote.

Herbert George Wells was an amazing writer. Ignore the filmic disasters. They never convey the sheer atmosphere or invention of Well's written word. Anyhoo, a quote 'ey?...... "This is the saddest story I have ever heard"
