You got it. One of my favorite books and movies and one of my favorite actors.

As to yours, I can only guess The General in His Labyrinth, but I don't think that's it.

Urgh! I know this one. This is a recent book, right? I feel like I just read it not that long ago...

I'd call it a political thriller, and it was written in the 1960s. It does have quite a few moments of satire though.

The Manchurian Candidate? I'm just guessing, of course. There's no satire in that, is there? Honestly, I've never read it.

I don't know either.

Hints! Was there a movie? Who was in it?

It's not The Manchurian Candidate, but that novel is crammed with satire.

Yes, this novel was made into one of my favorite non-English-language films. Most of the cast were French.

Nope, couldn't have remembered the book title if my life depended on it. Also, I never read the book, so, I'll demur. I think mark can honestly be said to have stumped us all, so he gets another go-round.

Sorry about the delay. I tried to find a specific quote but couldn't, so I'll go with a different novel. This one should be easier, I hope.

"I distrust a close-mouthed man. He generally picks the wrong time to talk and says the wrong things. Talking's something you can't do judiciously, unless you keep in practice."
