I have a list of books that I've come up with that are all from the first shelf of one of my bookcases at home. I need help deciding what to read next, presently I'm reading One Hundred Years of Solitude. Here's the list, in no particular order(and please read them all):

Sense and Sensibility
Foundation
Little Big Man
The Great Impersonation
The Great Escape
One Flew Over the Coo-coo's Nest
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie
The Odyssey/The Iliad
The Discoverers
A Wrinkle in Time
The Man in the Iron Mask
The Three Musketeers
Romeo and Juliet
A Midsummer Night's Dream
Macbeth (the scottish play)
The Tale of Two Cities
Great Expectations
Wuthering Heights
Doctor Zhivago
The Guns of Navarone
12 O'Clock High
Gone with the Wind
Journey to the center of the Earth
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
And Then There Were None
The Scarlet Letter

If you're reading Garcia Marquez, why not go on with South-American "magic realism" ?

How about Alejo Carpentier's CENTURY OF LIGHT , from 1962 ?

Based on your list, I'd recommend Tess of the D'Ubervilles or anything else Thomas Hardy wrote.
