Singer-songwriter Billy Preston dead at 59

I always enjoyed his albums and songs from the '70s and any session work he performed (The Beatles, George Harrison, etc). He was fantastic both times I saw him live, the first time being when he was the highlight and lone saving grace of a 1975 Rolling Stones concert. Most recently, Preston contributed two great tracks to the Joe Henry project, I Believe to My Soul (an amazing session also featuring Ann Peebles, Irma Thomas, Allen Toussaint and Mavis Staples- this is a criminally neglected album that shouldn't be missed!). Billy was my favorite 5th Beatle. R.I.P. dude.

Billy is love. I know that sounds ridiculous, but just watch the film Let It Be, or listen to that keys work on "Get Back" or his own "Nothing From Nothing", and tell me I'm wrong. A very hearty and very sad R.I.P.
