Whan an excellent addition to the forums!! I've often hesitated posting about soul/r&b cause it seemed to me most members wasn't into the music. I also though that was the main reason for not having a seperate sub-forum for black music related topics apart from jazz.
Thankfully, we have one now!

I felt hesitant at first too K-Bee, but I believe there's several members on here who are into the soul-R&B-hip-hop-jazz genre, so you're not alone

I hope you are right. I've mainly been talking soul on the more specialist music boards but I'd like to get things going here as well. This forum should help

I've seen other more specialized message forums too, like I've stumbled on a lot of hiphop boards and soul boards, but for some reason I'm drawn to metacritic. I think it's the eclectic mix of people and different tastes. Also I find the layout of metacritic forum more user-friendly. With the other message boards you look at it, and you're just overwhelmed. Too much on the screen. Maybe it's the membership size.

What kinda soul are you mostly into? Are you mostly into 70's, neo-soul, or contemporary R&B?

Well I'm a funkateer by heart really
I'm very much into 70s funk preferebly with a jazzy flavor on top (Like Hancock, Duke and so on) I like underground disco as well and I'm also a huge fan 0f 80s r&b
Apart froma select few indie label releases, most of the contemporary urban stuff leaves me cold though. Soul Music is in a pretty bad shape nowadays if you ask. For one Will Downing, we get 125 Ashanti's if you get my drift!
