Well, since there was a best poster topic started, I thought I'd start a best or worst trailer thread.

So think back and try to remember the best or worst movie previews youve seen.

I'd have to say the most memorable trailer I've seen was for Sudden Impact. When Clint Eastwood first uttered the line, "Go Ahead, Make My Day" to the convict, the theater crowd went nuts, a chill went down my spine, and I was hooked. Shortly thereafter, Reagan used the line in one of his speeches and it became part of history.

Another trailer that floored me in my youth was the trailer for Octopussy. I remember gigglilng like Beavis & Butthead, thinking it was a bad joke. Turns out, that was the actual title of the movie. Still don't quite get that one to this day.

Finally, possibly the funniest trailer was for The Kentucky Fried Movie, specifically the segment on "Catholic School Girls in Trouble." Funny as hell.

The trailer that immediately comes to mind, believe it or not, is the trailer from "Point Break", the not-so-good movie with Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves. If only the film itself had been that good!

The Underworld trailer was actually really cool! Action-packed, good music, cool look. Unfortunately, the film itself sucked big time.

I also liked the trailer for Willard, anybody seen it?

I think that Garden Sate was the best trailer I have seen in a LONG time.

One bad trailer that comes to mind is the trailer for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

It didnt make me want to see the movie at all and cannot compare to how great the movie was. I had to rely on my friends strongly urging me to see it.

I know, It's a bit like the trailer for Vanilla Sky, it didn't make me want to see the movie at all, so I didn't go to see it at the cinema.
Months later, I rent it on DVD and absolutely love it, because of this f***ing trailer I didn't see this film at the theatre!! I was a little pissed off....(apparently I still am!)

??? What do you guys want from a trailer??? Both sunshine and vanilla sky had strange intriguing trailers with great music and a 'wtf' feeling. I guess since neither began with 'In a world...' And if you can't trust charlie kaufman or Cameron Crowe to deliver a great film, then I don't feel the least bit sorry that you didn't get to see it at the cinema. Develop some damn taste!

OK, first of all, I didn't even know Cameron Crowe at the time so I didn't know if he was any good.
Second of all, I did trust Charlie Kaufman, that's why I went to see the film anyway!
Third of all, I wasn't asking for a cheesy "In a world..." or "One man..." trailer, I just wanted something more from the trailer, something that would make me want to see the film!
And fourth of all: Calm down my boy

You're right, E. I need to calm down. Sorry about the taste thing. What I want from a trailer is something that piques my interest while not giving away too much of the premise or ending. After watching those films, would you say they are more rewarding than if they had a by the numbers trailer? Part of it for me, and the theater audience, was discovering together what the heck was going on. It must have drove the marketing people crazy to sell such an abstract film like vanilla sky or eternal sunshine (and as a result, they didn't really set the world on fire at the box office). I liked those trailers cuz they didn't just rely on cruise and carey to sell it. Even though the beginning of the vanilla sky played it straight, offering (it seemed) just another cruise/cameron love story thing.

And using 'Where Do I Begin' by the Chemical Brothers in a trailer is brilliant.

I would have to say a good trailer was the one for van helsing. Many people said the movie was bad and it got bad reviews but the trailer made me want to see it and I think it was the same for many other people.

Anyway, I know what you mean, I think it was a good thing they didn't give anything away in the trailers. I was just pissed off coz when I saw the Vanilla sky trailer I thought it was gonna be a rom-com with Cruz and...Cruise but it was much more than that!
Oh well, I learned my lesson!

'The Score' had to be the worst I've ever seen. You lose my interest the second you say, "It has a surprise ending you won't believe!" Wouldn't it cease to be a surprise ending?

Jerry Seinfeld:Comedian was a kick ass trailer. It poked fun at all of the "In a time" voice overs.

I agree, I think that has to be one of the best trailers ever!

The Incredibles one was good too, the one where the superhero tries to get his pants on.

Yeah, all of the Pixar teasers are great.

The eternal sunshine trailer, im sad to say, didn't really make the movie look that amazing. I loved the movie, but i didn't see it till way after it came out on dvd because somebody told me it was good.

I liked the trailer for the new batman movie, the one where the bats just fly by. It leaves it to your imagination

I agree with Eternal Sushine..., it is one of my favorites, but the trailer kind of sucked. One of my favorite trailers I can remember is for LOTR The Two Towers. What made it so cool is using "Lux Aeterna" as the soundtrack for it, even if it was not used in the movie. Another one I am loving right now is Jarhead, mostly because of how "Jesus Walks" is so inpeccably placed.
