Wow. All the watercooler talk suggested John Daly had a winner here. The New York critics really put a thumbs down on it. There was, accordingly to releases a Premiere Dec. 07 in Hollywood. It will be interesting to see West Coast Critics comments. I see one viewer vote in New York says it is a winner! Critics and viewers often disagree. So - wonder just what the outcome will be. It said in releases this movie will be released Dec. 10 but gives no indication of what theatres it will be in. Does anyone know! Does anybody know the reaction in Hollywood. The New York viewer said the movie was made for under $10 Million? and is a $30 million dollar movie? What does that mean.
Thanks

Jackie, he is talking about this. Clearly the bad rating can be accredited to the sub-par cast. But due to this, this, this, and this I'm not sure that I totally trust our new friend Waterkooler.

Surely a bit suss when the first posting is dedicated to a rave about the quality of an un-released product. Yes, those other posts are very similar in tone, and I wouldn't be suprised if it was all part of a rolling publicity campaign. Good pick-up Mike. Keep it up.

Question...why doesnt' MetaCritic remove these threads? There aren't tons of them, but there are a number of them. Why do they stay on?

I have no problem keeping it or ditching it. This one doesn't offer a link and doesn't even make itself clear. Does anyone think this thread is going to influence anything? It's kinda pathetic but inoffensive. I remember we had a rave awhile back about a film "Vlad". Did anyone even see it in the newspaper film ads? I think this is harmless, like that new thread over at Music- Live Shows, but I guess if it offends enough members' sensiblities, I can delete it. I was actually hoping that waterkooler would come back and answer Jackie's question.

I keep looking at some of our old threads and thinking I could prune some, but then I see some which I think should be alive and well. Maybe I should pin those, but I'll have to check with LT because I'm not sure I know how!

Mike's post is your answer, asc85. Shine a light on the few examples we get, make sure everybody sees them for what they are, and in time it gets harder and harder to spam our board.

That being said, I would hate for us to get too overzealous and accuse every effusive first post of being spam. This one certainly got my attention right away, but I didn't find enough evidence to lock the thread. Mike's evidence shows that there may be a viral campaign under way, but I don't see enough similarities between those posts and the one that led off this thread to call it out and out spam.

I'll be curious to see if waterkooler returns. That's generally a good litmus test.

Pathetic, is indeed the word. But, hey, as long as we have the force on our side, what can it hurt?

I don't know the answers to your questions about where it will screen, but usually when somebody says that a $10 million movie is a $30 million movie, it means that it cost $10 million, but looks like it cost $30 million, so obviously that's a complement. I'll reserve judgment on everything else until I see it.

Big GrinThank you for your reply. I see the barometer on metacritic reads 31 so not much luck in critics eyes it seems. Oh well. A war related movie at Christmas seems odd anyway. Oceans 11 seems to be a moot point barely clearing 50. Looks for sure like even a bevy of stars don't get the look either. Gotta like Johhny Depp though. Can't believe the movie but the guy is good in most all he does. The Aryan Couple has a couple of good actors says the billboard but perhaps it is time to shelve those types of movies and get on with happier times.

Um, do you mean Oceans 11 or Oceans 12?

I actually saw a screening of the Aryan Couple and I think the critics have been unusually harsh. The movie never strives to be like Schindler's List but it offers a refreshingly different view of the Holocaust. The performances are amazing, the score touching, and the message is powerful. I would definitely encourage people to see it. I don't always trust what the critics say anyway!

This post is at the same time baffling and peurile. I've had that toast thing so many times (and I still don't get it) you'll be happy to know I'm choking on it.
If your brief was to get me to see "Aryan "whatever, then mission accomplished. Why not spend some more time wollowing in other peoples misery. It might show me that this tragic part of our history was even more horrendous than I already think.

No publicity is bad publicity.

Take that,Mr Trampoline.
