I thought this would be a fun topic where we can discuss what movies are coming out that really excite us as well as share news and info on various projects.

A couple films I'm highly anticipating that are in-the-works:
Indy IV and
MI:3

I really hope Indy gets off the ground soon and has a great story. I'm just wondering what Lucas's problem is.
I really think the third installment of Mission Impossible will be great. Tom worked directly with the writers on this script (most recently Frank Darabont on a rewrite) and is really making sure this thing is done right. Tom brought on J.J. Abrams (of Alias fame) to direct as well as help with some final touches on the script. I think this should prove very interesting. Check out this great interview with Darabont:

Yea, well you see this one? This was my dream, my wish....and it didn't come true. So I'm taking it back, I'm taking them all back.

Well, I am very excited about Batman 5 and the Pink Panther with Steve Martin (both coming in 2005). As for this year I guess, being a Jim Carrey fan, I am anticipating Lemony Snicket's A series of Unfortunate Events.

MI:3 is also something I look forward to, especially if Scarlett Johansson's in it... Big Grin
As for Indy IV, I dunno, I just adored the Trilogy but I don't think it's a good idea to do another Indy flick...still: something to look forward to as well!

I too am excited about the new Batman, as well as Indy 4! I hope the new Indy is well written, I am very interested to see when and where it will be set. The Pink Panther makes me nervous, it could truly go either way, got my fingers crossed for it though. I am getting more excited for, and warming up to the King Kong remake, I know I shouldn't have any doubts about a Peter Jackson project. I've been waiting almost a year since I first saw the trailer for Shaun of the Dead, I'll finally get to see it this weekend. The other I am quite excited about would be Team America:World Police, I enjoy Matt and Trey's humour quite a lot, and the timing is perfect! Hopefully Shaun of the Dead and Team America will provide the theatrical comedy relief I have been needing recently.

I am also very excited for The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy movie coming out mid next year. I heard that Douglas Adams actually completed a script for the movie before he passed, which brings to me high expectations! Great casting too of Sam Rockwell as Zaphod Beeblebrox!

YES! Team America: World Police looks hilarious.
Another superhero movie that im looking forward to is The Incredibles. Pixar is an unstoppable force, cranking out excellent CG films, one after another.
Alexander looks like it might be good, but then again it could be the next Troy.
And speaking of historical war dramas, Michael Mann's Gates of Fire looks to be ok. Although filming hasnt even began yet, Collateral was very good.
I also really enjoyed the first two Xmen films and am looking forward to number 3.
Peter Jackson's King Kong sounds good but I am awaiting even more the Hobbit movie!
I also cant wait for the four upcoming Ridley Scott films: Tripoli, Kingdom of Heaven, Captain Kidd, and of course Gladiator 2!
Oh yes, and who could forget the Ender's Game movie which is being directed by Wolfgang Petersen and the screenplay is written by Orson Scott Card! Oh! And the Da Vinci Code movie too! I loved the book.
Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds looks to be pretty good.
And how bout Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka? Although the original was so great, I know Tim Burton wont let me down.
And while we are on the subject of Johnny Depp I am also pretty interested in his next movie, Finding Neverland where he plays the guy who wrote the peter pan play.
And speaking of true stories, maybe I should mention Ray, the story of Ray Charles with Jamie Foxx. Looks promising.
And who could forget Quentin Tarantinos upcoming film, Inglorious Bastards! Him being one of my favorite writer/directors, I am definately looking forward to this one. Its a war film starring Michael Madsen.
Well, I guess thats all I have to say about upcoming movies. Have a nice day! Smiler

What the hell is wrong with me??? I actually forgot charlie and the Chocolate Factory!!!! Tim Burton is my all time favourite director and I am definitely really excited about this upcoming film.
The Pink Panther, true, could go either way, but Steve Martin, even when he's in a crappy film, is always good value and I'm sure to laugh anyway. A comedy genius.

I don't post here in movieland very often (mainly because I don't get to see movies very often anymore) but this is a cool topic, with some really cool links. Those Fantastic Four pics were great, Jackie!

I was a comic kid many years ago, and so the comic book movies are always on my radar, but I echo Mr Nygma's excitement over the Burton version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Freaky-deaky, I expect.

Another one rumored to be coming soon is the second X-Files movie, which I also look foward to.

I worry about Indy IV, if only because I found the Star Wars Episodes I and II to be really bad. I hate seeing a legacy being wasted. But the fifth Batman film might be decent...

Ok folks, here's the lowdown for today...

A few tidbits of interesting news

Those of you who enjoyed Basic Instinct will be happy (maybe) to know that part 2 in currently in development. Although most remakes don't warrant sequels, one that I would very much enjoy seeing is The Italian Job 2. Paramount is currently in negotiations with Wahlberg, Theron, Green, Mos Def, and Statham to do a sequel. Others of note: Die Hard 4. They were hoping for a 2005 release of this film, but seeing as they don't even have a director assigned, I'm not sure that will happen. Die Hard 4.0, as it's being currently called, is supposedly being developed from a script called "WW3.com" about internet terrorists who plan to hack into all the major computer systems in the world. Sounds like it could suck, but you never know. James Cameron is writing a script for Alien 5. Why, I don't know. But he definately won't direct. Sigourney Weaver has said she would do another film and Ridley Scott is entertaining the idea of directing (again, why I don't know). 20th Century Fox has grabbed a Stephen J. Cannell script for The A-Team and is currently developing it. Jim Carrey and Ving Rhames have been rumored to star, but seriously...can anyone play B.A. but Mr. T? Jerry Bruckheimer is returning to produce Beverly Hills Cop IV. They are currently working with a screenplay by Jason Richman who did "Bad Company" and who also has "Rush Hour 3" on the way. Another interesting project is Mort the Dead Teenager. Based on a Marvel comics character, this is the story about a teenager living on Long Island who is hit by a train and killed. After his death, he meets a character named Teeth Death who tells Mort that he must now haunt those that he knew in his life. This will be produced by Quentin Tarantino.

More news later!

REVENGE OF THE SITH!!!! Maybe I'm caught up in all the recent star wars nostalgia however (cable TV has been pimping the hell out of it past couple weeks!)

Indy IV will suck. Last Crusade was good. Good enough to keep me satisfied, if not as good as Raiders.

I'm sick of everyone writing and saying 'I Heart Huckabees' It may be said that way, I don't know. But I'm calling it 'I Love Huckabees'.

And I will fight you if I have to.

Believe it or not, I'm actually looking forward to "Team America: World Police." That could be damned funny. However, I must say that my days of looking forward to that big release in the future are pretty much over. I remember holding my breath for such eventual disappointments as "The Doors", The Matrix sequels, the Star Wars Prequels, and A.I. I've found that it's best to just keep my expectations low (at least for the big Hollywood films) so I'm pleasantly surprised by the cream that rises to the top.

Ok slime...here's the story. R.O.T.S (thats funny) is going to rule...because it must. And I read an interview with David O. Russell, the director of "I Heart Huckabees" and he called it exactly that. So I'm going to stick with what the friggin' director calls it you crusty piece of dog snot.

I'm also really looking forward to Revenge of the Sith, even though I know deep down inside that it will suck balls, just like 1 and 2. I want to like them so bad, but when I watch them, I say to myself, "I wouldn't piss on George Lucas if he were on fire!" That is why I'm hoping Indy 4 won't get the green light, because Lucas will have a hand in it.

I have been reading Die Hard 4 rumors since 1999, and it is always "due out in about a year" so don't hold your breath.

Ok guys, I haven't posted any new stuff lately, so here ya go:

First off, it's reported that Sean "P. Ditty/Puff Daddy" Combs will star in a remake of the DePalma/Penn/Pacino classic "Carlito's Way". The film, being called "Carlito's Way: The Beginning", will be directed by Michael Bregman who produced the original and is quoted as saying "I think this one is going to be better than the first one." ARE YOU SERIOUS?!!! Unbelievable. Moving on...there's a new Cheech and Chong movie in development called "Cheech and Chong Get Blunt". Evidently, our boys have gone straight (so how's it going to be a Cheech and Chong movie?), and if it's any indication as to how old these guys are, Tommy Chong's daughter is producing. A new Sly Stallone/Kevin Bacon flick called "Dolan's Cadillac" sounds like it could be pretty good. It's based on a Steven King novelette (which would normally mean disaster) but we can always hope. Fans of the series may be happy to know that there is a film version of the cult BBC TV series "Red Dwarf" in development. Bruce Campbell and Don Coscarelli are making a prequel to their cult hit "Bubba Ho-Tep". The film will be called "Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires" and will take place in the 60's, before Elvis went into the nursing home. Believe it or not, Universal is working on The Fast and the Furious 3. BUT, Vin Diesel is in talks to come back...and NOT Paul Walker. It would pick up where part 1 left off with Diesel's character. So, you never know, it might be decent. And finally, an upcoming John Woo/Chow Yun Fat picture called "The War of the Red Cliff" sounds like it could be pretty cool. It is rumored to be the most expensive film ever shot in China.

Back with more later.

I am a fan of the lemony snicket books and was wondering if anyone had any idea about the plot of the film. I noticed in the preview that they showed shots from all the books. Did they combine all the books to make the movie? I sincerily hope not, it would ruin a great story line.

Yeah, me too. The last I heard the battle for playing Superman was between Brendan Frasier, Ashton Kutcher and Jude Law. I dont think that any of them would've been good. Im glad they chose an unknown actor.
