I agree with The Thin Red Line...it really caught on for me, unlike many others I know.
Has nobody said JFK? It's a favorite of mine...several memorable performances, great cinematography and just electric filmmaking in general, and it actually moved the US government to open its secret files on the subject to the public (has any other film done anything like that, ever?).
Schindler's List is probably the best, most important film of the decade...as allmovie says, being what it is, it just transcends any kind of critical scrutiny.
