Many movies about relationships employ scenes with therapists. Some counselor/patient relationships are central like "Ordinary People." Others are just fluff thrown in. However, now and then you will hear something very profound in the therapeutic process on screen. Are there any that knocked your psyche off the theater chair? I find it difficult to escape Robin Williams' park bench visit with Damon in Good Will Hunting. It may be the most beautiful, vulnerable, brutal words from the counselor to the patient. It is too long to print word for word here. Then, there are those short, concise words that make you go "wow," such as Conrad's therapist responding to his "I don't feel in control of my world," with the line "I'm not big on control." These dialogues spring to mind in personal times of crisis. If anyone is sitting with a loved one dying of cancer in a hospital they would relate to Williams' vulnerability in that one scene. Others?
Boy, you got to carry that weight a long time!
