What is it with the hate campane against Daniel Craig before the movie was even out? Most of the critism has been along the lines of - "He's too ugly", "He's too weedy" or "He's too blond". Constructive huh? Get a life people! Real Bond fans shold be hoping he does well but some seem to want him to fail. I get the feeling he's going to be great anyway; He's got a refreshing grit and an icy menace that i like.

I agree. I was extremely excited when I heard Daniel Craig was to be the new Bond. Unlike many of my generation, I have read all the original Bond novels, and he is much "harder" in the books. I think Craig will bring this (missing)added level of toughness to the role. I can't wait.

I like Daniel Craig, but I gave up on Bond two films ago. I just film that series completely ran out of steam and didn't even bother to see the last Bond film, Pierce Brosnan's swan song.

I think you should. The previews suggest that this is a return to basics with less OTT action, cheesy one liners etc and a greater emphasis on plot, characters and realism. I've read the books too and Bond was never meant to be Mr Perfect (that he has become) but a tortured soul with an arrogant side. This is going to be Bond you can emphasise with, Bond with deph and i can't wait!
BTW - I work in Mr Craigs birth place; the historic city of Chester!

He does look like an English Steve McQueen. But I really enjoyed this movie. Less flash & gimmicks and more grit and character depth. It's a great start for Craig, and much promise in store for upcoming Bond films.

ironically enough even though Craig is the only real british bond, I like him because he seems to act the LEAST british and "panzy" (is that spelled right?)
casion royale is not a true bond movie. it does not fit with any of the others. i believe its like a bourne identity meets die another day. there is still some bond in there but its almost all diminished. bond still has all the lady friends but it isnt like there is a different one every night.
i love the line when they ask him "shaken or stirred' and he says something along the lines of "why the hell should i care"
i liked this movie and craig far more then most bond movies. but they truly arent that comparable. the movie should really be seperate from the rest, because it does not belong with all the bond cliches and humour. it was just a true action packed good movie. see it

Have you seen Dr. No, From Russia With Love and On Her Majesty's Secret Service? This was Fleming's first novel, and the Woody Allen one was made for the Swingin' Sixties and a way to make money. That one counts as a movie, but not as a Bond!

Not quite sure what that means so i don't know if i should take offence to it or not. You should come over to Liverpool or Manchester on a Saturday night and try calling us "Pansies". You might find out how tough we really are.

It's the old image of a British gentleman taking off his glove and daintily slapping someone with it. American culture confuses "genteel" with "weak," I think. I certainly wouldn't want to start a barfight in Manchester.
