Same here... Recently, however, there is only one movie that has me to the brink of tears and that is Pan's Labyrinth. My family is from Spain, and that was a horrible time for them. I have to say that with knowledge of the civil strife there that movie is absolutely heartbreaking. Second on the list would be La Strada (Gelsomina's face gets me everytime).

The cure! That was the saddest movie I have seen for a while. Literally Head back crying loudly and almost not being able to breathe. It was such a good movie. Also the notebook.

Schindlers List, Forest Gump, and The Invisible are the only movies that have ever made me cry. Most sad movies make me angry for some reason, or just don't affect me.

Now that I think of it Bridge to Teribithia did make me cry.

I completely agree with United 93.

I don't know about the saddest movies, but definately two very sad and poignant scenes for me are:

Oh, I suppose they could be spoilers so I will cover them.

1. Troy - Achilles is kneeling, about to die, facing Briseis saying their tearful goodbyes. Both actors hit to spot for me.

2. The Last King of Scotland - the scenes of torture for the protagonist (i've forgotten his name). Within the context of the movie; his character development and plotline, the scene stands out for me.

It may sound stupid, but the movie that always gets me is "The Life Aquatic". I know it is a comedy of sorts, but the ending gets me blubbering.

I also second "The Elephant Man". That film kills me.

The saddest movies
The Lion Kind
The Invisible
Forest Gump
Schindler's list

I also recently saw Juno which I found really sad at times, despite the happy ending.

Walk to Remember
2002 film based on the 1998 romance novel by Nicholas Sparks
The plot was inspired by her life; Danielle met a man who wanted to marry her, "even when he knew she was sick, even when he knew that she might not make it".
Another is Forrest Gump and Titanic the movie
