For me it would have to be 'The Hunt for Red October.' I was ten and my dad took me to the midnight showing. I still don't know why it is still the longest line I have ever waited in, but it was on four screens and it was worth the wait.

I'm probably being a broken record, but watching "Jaws" at the Big Lakewood Theatre the first few times with 1000 other people screaming and laughing throughout the movie was always a tonic for me back in 1975.

When I went "Back-to-Back-to-Back" at the Big Newport Theatre, with my wife and friends, watching all three Back to the Future movies, including the third one the first time, that was also memorable. That theatre holds about 1100.

Of course, I used to go to FILMEX's 50-hour marathons in the early 80s. Those included the western, sci-fi & horror, and Oscar-winner marathons (three different years.) I'd basically try to stay awake as long as I could, and then go "sleep" in my car for a couple of hours during a movie I could afford to miss. It did lead to some almost surrealistic movie-watching experiences caused by sleep deprivation.

Seven. Crazy. It was late and a friend and I wanted to see something. I vaguely remembered seeing a trailer for the film and knew only that it had something to do with the "seven deadly sins". We said screw it, and went. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I was so pissed off at the end of the movie that once we were out in the parking lot, I yelled "that was the worst movie I have ever seen"! Some guy with his girlfriend yelled back, "I'll second that"! My friend and I were silent for a few minutes after getting in the car (which never happened) and finally, after contemplating and reflecting on what I had just seen, I said "you know, that was actually a really good movie". "Ya...it was", said my friend. And to this day, the film remains in my top 10 favorite movies of all time. The end.

The Return of the King. The movie was, at least to me very entertaining. I was having such a great experience watching it and it went on like that for 3 and a half hours. A great theater experience.

Seeing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I kid you not. Others that come close - matrix, fight club (both '99!) fellowship the first time, and then trilogy tuesday.

Flight of the navigator sticks in my mind. Really affected me as a kid. Had never experienced a film like this in a cinema environment and i was totally unprepared! Blew my poor liitle mind
The matrix, donnie darko and fight club also stick in my mind. But then these are the most amazing films of the last few years so no suprise really.

Another one would be 'Die Another Day.' True, probably the worst Bond movie ever, but the film burned up, and I got to watch Jackie ream out the theater manager. A good time was had by all.

Would have to be seeing Matrix Revolutions and X-men two one after another. And just a tip for having a good seat. If the theater is not full then most theaters you can put up the armrest and stretch out.

Well, if the manager had a good time, Jackie must be REALLY good at what he did!

Roald Dahl's 'The Witches'. I must have been about 14, and in the cinema this freaked the shit out of me. On video, didn't have much impact.

Just saw Old Boy in the cinema the other day, that was one of the best theatrical experiences I've had since The Witches.

Old Boy sure was some crazy s**t ! But I loved it!

My favorite theater moment was when me and my dad went to see mars attacks. We went on that Saturday December 14, it came out on Friday December 13 1996. I had a blast!! As what I can remember the theater was packed I mean packed the day we went to see mars attacks!!! Afterwards I bought some of the Martians at kb toys. I wish I could do it all again someday!!!

My favorite theater experience was Matrix: Reloaded. Not due to the film being great but since it was so highly anticipated the theater was completely packed, I was obliged to sit on my date's lap, which just so happened to be my first date ever, plus he was quite the gentleman about it (i am not tall so i wasn't blocking anyone's view behind me). The end.

If this sounds strange to you, don't worry, it was odd to me as well. The best theater experience was watching a premier of "That Thing You Do", a late night viewing in Atlanta. For some reason the crowd connected with the film and each other. As the final scene played and the credits rolled, the crowd stood and applauded. I've never seen this happen at a film.
