Just a spin on the very popular "Desert Island" threads.

If you were to put ten films into a time capsule, what would they be? They dont have to be your favorite, mind you.Just the "most important", or the ones that most accurately represent our culture. Yes, that is vague, but I'll leave it up to all of you to put a bit of creativity into it.

Rules~

Series (a la LOTR series) count as one film all together whereas sequels ( a la Halloween, Halloween H20, Halloween: Ressurection, etc.) count as one film each.

Well, that seems to be all...

..Enjoy!

Here are my 10

Birth of a Nation
Citizen Kane
Do the Right Thing
Waking Life
Airplane!
Star Wars series
Pink Flamingos
Amelie
Rejected- just because I like it =)

American Beauty

A humourous and scathing look at suburban life that hits pretty close to the bone.

This is Spinal Tap

Perfectly represents the bizarre nature of pop culture.

Full Metal Jacket

While its success as a film is debateable, I think it represents a common mindset of the time of the Vietnam war really well.

Saving Private Ryan

A fantastic cinematic achievement that captures the urban combat of WW2 very well (though ignore the blatant American patriotism).

Flying High

Id like the humourous side of our culture to be remembered and this movie perfectly captures that.

Citizen Kane

Really, is any explaination needed.

Blade Runner

A great look at where the world could have been going in the 1980s. Perfectly captures the fears and values of that generation IMO.

Titanic

Its important that the soppiness and excess of Hollywood be represented in this time capsule and it may as well be done with a film that was, despite all you can say about it, fantastic.

Chinatown

Great look at western business corruption.

Braveheart

Demonstrates how Hollywood can blatantly make a film that molests the concept of historical accuracy and still be loved by all.

I think that "The Grapes of Wrath" belongs here as well.
