I don't know about this one. I keep trying to come up with some interesting threads but they often don't seem to amount to much. What is your single favorite movie scene? This could make it easy for some and difficult for others. Remember, just because you name your "favorite" once, doesn't mean you can't change your mind.
For me, it has to be in "Jaws" with Quint's (Robert Shaw's) riveting account of what happened during WWII, when he was on the U.S.S. Indianapolis, after they were torpedoed whilst delivering the Hiroshima bomb. Apparently, Shaw wrote the entire scene himself, and Spielberg had the sense to just film him, since it's one of the greatest-acted scenes in movie history. Anyone have something they would like to share?

Hi everyone, my name is K-Dog and I've been sober for four days.
Just playing. This is pretty tough, but I think my favorite scene is the "Say 'what' again!" scene in Pulp Fiction. The entire length of the scene is hilarious. And Sammy L's recitation of the Bible verse Ezekiel 25:17 is beautiful.

Whoa why are our posts gone? Moderator??? You know anything bout this?
Eccentro, maybe I'm not the right person to say this, but several of those posts were "inappropriate." Now, maybe yours was "less inappropriate" than the others, but piggybacking on a movie to embarrass someone and "hijack" the posts is inappropriate, at least in a "civilized" society. (I'm right, even if it sounds like a complete crock.)

The posts in this thread that were deleted are gone because they weren't posts about scenes in movies, it was two people joking around with each other.
It may seem harsh to be deleting posts but posts won't be deleted unless they are against the guidelines that are stated for the forums. In other words, you don't have to worry that your post will be deleted just because someone doesn't like what you are saying.
Unfortunately, the rules have to be adhered to very strictly. If you look around the internet it doesn't take long to notice that a great many people feel that on the internet it is not necessary to think about spelling, grammar, or substance. There is only one forum I visit besides the Metacritic forums and I do so because they have similar rules and enforce them rigidly. The effect is a forum that is readable with actual interesting posts, instead of a bunch of nonsense from people who can't spell and have nothing to say.
Metacritic just wants to have the best forums possible, one that people look forward to visiting and feel confident inviting their friends to join, because they know it won't be a disappointment. It also needs to be known that the rules are there for a reason and should be read and followed so that everyone's use of the forums can be enjoyable.
Two favorite movie scenes that quickly come to mind are:
1. Pulp Fiction - But a different scene than the one posted above. My favorite scene is when Uma Thurman and John Travolta dance to Chuck Berry's "You Never Can Tell." By the way, there's zillions of things written about that film, and I've never seen how/why he chose that particular song. It's a great choice, but somewhat obscure Berry.
2. Boogie Nights - That wild scene when they're making the phony dope deal, when the Asian guy is lighting off Firecrackers in the room, and "Sister Christian" is being played in the background.

This is a great topic Mark! That scene in Jaws is the shizznitobamslimslamonthejimjam! Just because I was watching it while drunk with some friends who had never seen it last night, I will add a scene from Riki-O, The Story of Ricky. In the first fight with one of the prison bosses, the hugely buff boss with the yakuza style backpiece tattoo. He's on his knees and says to Ricky, "Ah, Ricky, you fight well, we'll die together!" and proceeds to stab himself in the stomach, pull out his intestines and use them to try to choke Ricky! Amazing scene!
"If it were beneficial, their father would produce children already circumcised from their mother. Rather, the true circumcision in spirit has become profitable in every respect." -Jesus, from the Gospel Of Thomas
I'm going to track down "Riki Oh" and watch it with my brother. "S" , you need to check out my response to your comments in the "A Scary Movie" section. Also, I'm happy to have you cover my back; I'll return the favor every chance I get.

I don't know if this is my all-time favorite scene, but it has to be up there. In "Sleepy Hollow" when all of the townspeople gather into the church because the Headless Horseman is out and about. The Headless Horseman can't get into the church, so he uses a fence post from the fence around the church, ties a rope to it, throws it through the window in front of which his prey stands. It goes through his prey's abdomen, he pulls his prey through the window, gets his prey out of the church grounds and then chops off his prey's head.

but the one i recall most though is lauran bacall and humphrey bogart's scene in 'to have and have not'. 'you do know how to whistle don't you; you just put your lips together and blow'
their chemistry - on and off the screen - made this magical. the film was adapted from hemingway's novel and william faulkner co-wrote the screenplay.
I'm sure if I thought about it very long, I'd come up with a gazillion favorites..... but the very first one that ALWAYS comes to my mind is the breakfast table scene in Citizen Kane, where it keeps disolving into greater and greater distance (both emotionally and physically), until they are finally sitting opposite each other reading competing newspapers.

With apologies to Carol02's scene because that is an absolute classic. I just have to put something new up here. I deleted a mistake I made two days ago, and no one has added here since, so I feel it's up to me to do something. I've already said the U.S.S. Indianapolis scene in "Jaws" is my favorite, but does everyone remember that immediately preceeding that scene was the "comparing your war wound" scene vis-a-vis sharks or emergency-room surgeons. Put together, those scenes make it so easy for me to realize how awesome "Jaws" really is.

I have a lot of favorite scenes ... but since my favorite movie is Breakfast at Tiffany's, I will say my three favorite parts in that (I can't even pick one in one movie!)
#1 Is just one shot ... after Holly has trashed her room in grief and the scene closes on a shot of her lying on her bed in the dark with just the light from the crack in the door where "Fred" is peeking in illuminating the room and the feathers from her destroyed pillows are floating down over her. It gives me little shivers.
#2 When "Fred" and Jose are escaping out the window at her big party, all dressed up in suits and run into Holly's agent making out with some woman in the bathtub. They stop and say goodbye to the agent and are introduced to the woman (Irving) and then go out the window. She asks who they are and the agent says "Jewel thieves." For some reason that always cracks me up.
#3 The whole section where Holly and "Fred" go out on the town and take turns doing things they've never done before.
Reading over these I realize none of this really makes sense unless you've seen the film 5000 times like I have. So, um .... everyone should rent it so you can fully enjoy my post.
