My 9 yr old twins need help figuring out a movie they saw years ago. They remember a talking black cat, some kids, some witches, a book that they opened that they weren't supposed to. Also there is either a scarecrow or a mummy whose head keeps falling off and being put back on. It's been bugging them for years, and I have no recollection of it.
I think the first movie is "escape to witch mountain"
That escape to witch mountain thing was not supposed to be on that last post. That was text from another reply I had made. duh, lol, I'm totally new to this site, so I'm still trying to sort things out.
I didn't want to start a new thread when there seems to be a "Help me remember this one movie!" thread going already, lol.
Ok, I remember watching this movie as a kid, I'm 25 now so it probably came out in the eighties sometime. All I can really remember about it is that in the beginning, a blonde girl (probably about ten years old or so) is sitting in her room, which has a lot of flowery, typical 80's kids' room stuff in it. It seems like she's talkiing to someone/thing but I don't what. Anyway, she goes through a full-size mirror into another land, and I remember really clearly that she's wearing jeans and high top sneakers with a sweater. I'm not too clear on what goes on in the new land or why she's there, but it seems like there are a lot of puppets and such as the characters she meets. It seems like she walks through a patch of cabbages that have little creatures in it.
I thought this movie was the Huggabunch, but that girl has dark hair, not blonde like I remember my girl having. I've search all fo the Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass remakes I've been able to find online, and all of the Cabbage Patch movies as well, but I'm coming up empty handed here.
You people were right. It was Hocus Pocus. The girls saw it last week on satellite and say that is the movie. Thanks. As for the other movie, It doesn't ring any bells for me.
