Often we see movies at particular times in our lives that "fall flat." However, later we watch them and realize there was lot more depth, etertainment, etc. than we previously experienced. What movies have you revisited and are glad you did? Why? One such movie for me was "The Order." After the renewed interest in theology (the De Vinci Code), presented in a "suspence" genre I watched "The Order" again. The theology is deep and may be confusing to those new to theology as a discipline. However, if you stay with it there is a profound message. The movie asks the question, "Is there hope for those who fall outside the church's understanding of salvation?" The movie offers a strange and mysterious ritual called "sin eating." Though I disagree with the theology, it nevertheless asks organized Christianity some tough questions. Though we may not like the answers it offers, the questions remain. Again, what movie, or movies have you seen again and are glad you did?
Boy, you got to carry that weight a long time!

I actually had this experience with Anchorman. First time I saw it I thought it was barely funny - I laughed maybe ten times through the whole thing. I pretty much thought it was a completely stupid movie with no entertainment value. I still think it's a completely stupid movie, but after the second and third times I watched it I started to realize why people like this movie.

I've now watched this movie four times now and I keep enjoying more and more, especially the one-liners. The excellent balance between horror and comedy in this movie is some of the best I've ever experienced.

personally i'd say the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.
excellent movie. I didn't think it fell flat the first time I saw, I just didn't fully comprehend it. By now I've seen it maybe 4 or 5 times and I've noticed something new about it each time.
And for the record, there's no first "the"
Another one for me was Groundhog Day. It just seemed OK when I first saw it, but by the second or third time I realized why people like it so much.

I agree I saw GROUNDHOG DAY on original release and didn't leave much of an impression on me, but a subsequent visit years later made me appreciate it even more.
Recently, I caught NIGHT OF THE IGUANA for the first time time since the late 1980s/early 1990s and for the first time really appreciated it and liked it quite a bit more this time.
And IVAN XTC, a little known film that had a brief commercial release in 2001 or so, worked even better the second time around. I liked it a lot the first time and was curious to see if it held up and it did. A rich portryal of the seamier side of Hollywood.
