I was looking for the name of a movie recently and miraculously found this website with the answer. I wanted to see if I could keep the good luck going by asking the community if they could help me with three movies I have been trying to remember the names of for some time.

First, all these movies are extremely 80s -- early to mid I think.

1) This movie I remember watching as a child on a beta cassette. Its some sort of race where the teams follow clues through out the city to get to the end -- which happens to be in big hotel. I think the prize for winning was a big cash reward. The teams are comprised of a set of nerds on like mopeds, the all american team -- which wins, a jock team, and the antagonists team which is led by some fat guy who has a rich dad or something that buys them a mini van that has like a riddle solver on it so that he can basically cheat. One point I remember is a clue leads them to an observatory and the all-american team puts in the right coordinates to see the clue which is on a building or the moon or something but as the jocks come in, he switches the coordinates so it looks into some girls bedroom and it, of course, slows the jock team down. I also remember a moment where the fat antagonist is eating marshmallows, but hes on a supposed diet so he tries to hide them from his girlfriend by placing them under the computer that solves the riddles and ends up melting them, yielding the computer useless so they basically follow the all american team around and try to cheat to win.

I also remember the guy officiating the contest as some nerdy Rick Morrianus-esque fellow.

2)The next movie is some sort of gladitorial movie set in like a post-apocalyptic wasteland where two teams basically beat each other up with chains and such, and the object is to take a skull across the field -- through the other team -- and stick it on a post. I remember one part where this girl who I believe is the main character and protagonist is trying to get a team to notice her so she can join so she has to try to get past this huge guy with a chain to prove she is worthy of having a spot on the team. I also remember this great montage of a bunch of 'matches' and this girl like breaking through the lines and slamming the skull down on the post over and over.

3)Lastly, another gladitorial-esque movie but this takes place in space. I only have seen the trailer and I want to say it was a trailer before either Total Recall or The Running, maybe even Robot Jocks, where this blonde-human-man has to like fight in gladiator competitions against aliens. I remember one of the hook lines in the trailer is "First we make him suffer, then we kill him" or something to that effect. I want to say the movie is called like The Octagon or The Ring or something like that. Not sure though.

Any suggestions?

I haven't actually seen the film, but could #1 be "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World"? It sounds like the basic plotline (remember, I haven't seen it). I think there was also a loosely based remake of that film within the last ten years starring John Cleese (Monty Python) called "Rat Race".
