OK so I got a PS3 and therefore a Blu-Ray player. I can get the Final Cut film for it. However the new DVD boxset with all the versions ever made with it also, is the same price.
Now I have an upscaling DVD player, and so the picture quality wont be a million miles away from the BR version.
But, I have a confession. I have never seen Bladerunner!
So with this being supposedly, the best ever, and indeed, final cut, do I need to have all the others? Should i just go for the the best possible picture and sound quality, or quanity?
I heard on a podcast that someone went to see the final cut and had never seen it before. His mate ( who had seen every version a millions time )was so jealous saying he would of loved to have the same experiance. So I reckon just the BR version will do.
Ah! (Deep breath) Blade Runner, being in my top 10 of all time is a film I could write about for days.
But its late, and I can't be bothered going all Roger Ebert tonight, so let me just say this.
If you consider yourself a real film buff, don't hesitate to get the whole damn box and dice. Its fascinating to nerdily compare minute details, as I have already done; however, if yr just looking to see what all the fuss has been about for the last 25 yrs, the 'final' cut should answer all questions.
I don't care what Scott and Ford say: I still like the voiceover!
'for my purpose holds to sail beyond the sunset, and the baths of all the western stars, until I die.'
