I'm new here (as you can see from the number of my postings), so greetings to the community, first of all, and a happy new year!
I'm from Germany and I don't really know much about US-American film critics and newspapers. Hence, I've got a kind of two-folded question to ask: Firstly, Which film critics do you just have to know (because they are so good/popular/often referred to and so on, you get my drift)? And secondly, which gazettes/newspapers/magazines are known for good and usually balanced and accurate reviews of movies and TV series? Or, to put it differently, which papers run a respected and acclaimed "critics department"? :-)
I'm asking this so that I can take the next review I read with a pinch of salt, as it were.
Thanks for your answers guys!

It's a good question, but I don't think I would be the best judge. I'm sure someone else will have an opinion. My personal favorite is Kenneth Turan from the L.A. Times.
