They say that thousands of years from now, America will be remembered for three things: The Constitution, Jazz Music and Baseball. This is the time of year that I like to bust out my baseball flicks. What are your Favorites?

I have to be a copycat and go with all six of the ones mentioned, but "Bull Durham" has to be my fave. I also enjoyed "Major League", "The Pride of the Yankees", and even though it's not a baseball movie, there's a priceless scene in the 1928 silent "The Cameraman" where Buster Keaton plays baseball by himself in the (almost) empty Yankee Stadium.

5. Fields Of Dreams - Speaking as a guy, we all know why this movie is good. We all wish we could play ball with our dad back during his prime.
4. Bull Durham - Speaking as a guy, we all know why this movie is good. We all wish we could ball with Susan Sarandon back during her prime.
3. Bad News Bears - The escapist fantasy of innocence that baseball tends to provide kids comes colliding with the realism of crushed spirits that tends to come with adulthood. Oh, but with a sense of humor.
2. Major League - Bob Uecker. Nuff said.
1. A League Of Their Pwn - It's ironic that a game mostly associated with male players, that a film that focuses on women first entering the sport should be the one that, for me, best captures the feeling that this sport is truly an American pasttime. That the purpose of a game is that no matter the political world events may turbulently transpiring, we all can just escape for a little while & catch a ballgame & hopefully return into the real world with our spirits refreshed. Because, as we all know by now, there is no crying in baseball.
