We probably have this topic somewhere, but I couldn't find it.

When you're really down, what movie do you "throw on" to get yourself feeling better? There's no rules and nobody should "question" another's answer, but as usual, "polite discussion" is encouraged. Cool

Last month, I felt "yuck", so I reached for the Marx Bros.' Horse Feathers

and Duck Soup

and I was in a very good mood very quickly. My normal answer is Richard Pryor Live in Concert because that's the film with more laughs and honesty per minute than any I know.

Big Grin

I hope this spurs some interest because it seems pretty universal. We can always add on Music, Books, TV, Food, etc. Good Night, And Good Luck, My Friends. Smiler

First one that comes to mind is Ghostbusters. I wouldn't even have to start at the beginning. It always makes me laugh. It's one that I sometimes just put on in the background while I'm doing other things. Trading Places is another one I put on if I need to smile. Another one, which some may think odd, is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It always makes me feel good when I'm finished watching it.

It's been emotional.

The Princess Bride always makes me feel a little better, as does The Royal Tenenbaums

Here are some movies I have watched at different times to help me feel better: Shawshank Redemption, Adaptation, Mulholland Dr.

Movies in general lift my spirits even if they have darker themes. I think it's just getting the chance to focus on something outside myself.

I needed a pick-me-up movie Friday night so I chose Happy Accidents. Light hearted Marisa Tomei flicks often do the trick. I've worn out copies of Only You and My Cousin Vinny.

A couple other great pick-me-up flicks are The Unbelieveable Truth and School of Rock.

I like to watch "The Bishop's Wife" during any time of the year when I need a pick me up. It's a great old movie!

Boy, you got to carry that weight a long time!

Wow... I have never thought of Mulholland Drive as a "pick me up" movie. But hey, to each his own, right? Smiler

Mine are:

Orange County (I know that some people thought it was really stupid, but the movie really made me laugh, and when I laugh it certainly lifts my spirits up.)

Home Alone
