“Bug”. In my opinion, it's the most unintentionally funny movie in many years. To blame - Friedkin 100%. Judd and Shannon are both extremely competent actors but Friedkin has them hamming it up so greatly that any sense of reality and suspense is shattered. The result is gloriously ridiculous. Even the set in the final scene is hysterical. I saw "Bug" in a crowded Chicago theater and we roared with laughter. The film is well-made but there are many missteps and poor choices along the way. Paranoia has never been this enjoyable. Go see it!

friedkin does lose his way.

at about two-thirds of the way in, he turns tone-deaf as the screetching grows and the craziness accelerates.

since neither of the two leads were sympathetic, how are we suppose to care about their inevitable self-destruction ? it was a horribly structured film.
