The big twist in "The Crying Game" comes in the middle, but it could conceivably have a twist ending too, but that can't be considered such a shocker.

What about "The Game" with michael douglas. I haven't seen that in a while but I thought that was a pretty good twist ending.

Some that I don't think have been mentioned yet are Frailty, Vanilla Sky, Primal Fear, and Fallen. The Usual Suspects is my very favorite.

I can't stand people who give away the endings to these kind of films. I don't even want any "clues". Just let me be surprised for once! Good twists are hard enough to find in movies these days as it is.

It's called a "changeover". The movie goes on and nobody in the audience has any idea.

Usual suspects. Not my favorite ending, but it just comes to mind. Never would have guessed "he" was the killer huh? Well they're is something that gives him away if you pay increadibly close attention.... The way he holds the cigarette.

Actually there are many instances in the movie in which if you notice them, the twist is discovered. Things on the police officer's bulliten board that Verbal is talking about can be noticed, the bottom of the coffee mug, things such as that. And something interesting about "The usual Suspects" more than three people played Keyser Söze, Bryan Singer (hand shown), John Ottman (Shoe Close-up), during the "Turkey" scene an intern was the actor, Gabriel Byrne, and, of course Kevin Spacey.

my favourite twist endings, in no particular order are: The Usual Suspects, Angel Heart, Oldboy, Memmento, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, The Planet of the Apes (original, of course), Blade Runner and Fight Club. Of all these, i would have to say the twist ending in The Usual Suspests was the best. I lay awake for hours thinking about it.

I think one great twist ending movie I have seen was Phone Booth. I thought the movie was okay, but the twist ending was great. And somewhat unexpected.

I didn't like "Phone Booth"s ending because I saw it previously...in "Joy Ride."

The sixth sense was probably one of my favorites, I never saw it coming the first time I watched it. Never, great execution by Shymalan.

Phone booth was also a good one, but that movie was pretty ridiculous all around.

Both Mulholland Drive and Donnie Darko have endings that make you re0think what the whole movie was about and see it in different ways.

One of the earliest classic twist endings is the French film Diabolique, about the wife and mistress of a French school teacher conspiring to kill him. The film was remade into a crappy Hollywood version in the 1990s with Sharon Stone and Chazz Palmintieri.

If you want to get into oldies with killer twists, I'd start with the 1945 British horror omnibus Dead of Night. That one's a doozie.

My favorite twist WOULD have been "The Sixth Sense," but unfortunately somebody ruined it for me before I saw the movie, and so I wasn't very surprised.

same with me!

I think the best twist endings are ones that when you think back over the movie, there are clues you could have used to figure it out. Twists that completely come out of left field aren't that great or impressive to me. I actually figured Sixth Sense out, but here are some other favorites.
1. Witness for the Prosecution
2. Blade Runner
3. Memento - This is one you can kind of try to figure out.
4. Planet of the Apes
5. Usual Suspects - If you really watch, you can pick up on this one, too.

The best twist ending in a movie is the originator, "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari". Everything else is an imitator.

great twist at the end of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, it's just sooooo funny when the cops come and round up that massive army just before a showdown with the french

!!!!!!!!!!! if you weren't a man (which I assume you are) I would marry you. I am the biggest python fan and I was going to say that ending was the best. But seeing how thats already been said I would have to say, Fight Club, The Game, Saw (I was out of my seat, jumping up and down at that ending), and seven.

Peewee already mentioned Mulholland Dr and I would agree. A twist end to a movie twisted to begin with.

Two others are The Wicker Man and Don't Look Now.

The top two for me are Mulholland Dr and The Sixth Sense.

"A Perfect Murder" starring Michael Douglas and Gwyneth Paltrow comes to mind. As a teen I also remember not expecting "Easy Rider" to end as it did.

Boy, you got to carry that weight a long time!
