I read the book, loved it, and despite all the unecessary controversy, I'm really looking forward to it. Just hope it isn't a flop-up job like DVC.

The one flop-up job that sadly lingers in the sequel (going on the trailer) is Tom Hanks' hair. Honestly, with all the developments in filmmaking over the decades, why are hair and make-up departments still lagging so far behind that we have to endure such unsightly spectacles like Nicolas Cage's balding pate, and Hanks' comb-over?

On a serious note, I'm not sure about the casting of McGregor. Are he and Hanks a good fit? Casting isn't just about picking the most able stars for the right roles, it's also about balancing personalities. And I'm unconvinced that the two actors will have good chemistry; it will be intriguing to see how it works out.

I needn't have worried. Ewan McGregor is as bad as ever. His accent in the film checks all the wrong boxes for a good performance, and allows Tom Hanks to shine in comparison. The poor soul should just keep using his native voice and cease masquerading as an actor with range.

I was captivated by Ewan McGregor's performance from his very first scene. His personality was dynamic and personable and the same time intellectually sharp. I didn't mind the accent since everybody seemed to talking in English which was strange so I just went with it. The biggest problem I had with Mr. McGregor's performance was him having to follow the script twist at the end which I found rather over the top and unnecessary, I would have preferred to have the movie end about ten minutes earlier.

Obi-Wan Kenobi in the role of the catholic villainSmilerHeresy-for believers, soap-for knowledgeable people and money-for producers. This is what it is. I dislike the movie because I dislike the author of the book. Manipulation with real facts the way he does is not after my heart.
