She is a Woody Allen freak! And yeah, I love the Woodman, but her passion seems to outshine mine. But yes, she's seen it. She's definitely read more of his books than I have, but we're still working on her seeing ALL his films. She's also recently become gaga about the Marx Bros. (all their first seven films play annually here), but that may have something to do with Woody's adoration of them. She's actually trying to push her high school class to do a Homecoming skit based on Horse Feathers, although she's the only one of the 450 who's seen it!!

Hey, Mr. F, have you watched "Deja Vu" yet? My brother lent me his & I was planning to watch it tomorrow. I was just curious if it might could be a waste of time. I've heard the ending is a tad bit confusing. It's the main reason my brother lent it to me, he wants me to explain it. (I'm pretty good at figuring out strange movies for him .) Sure, I might offend a few of the blue-noses with my cocky stride and musky odor - oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called 'City Fathers' who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about what's to be done with this Monkey_Boy?!"

I haven't watched it yet. I'll post what I think about it when I do. We can discuss the ending in blackout.

I was going to rent it too, but I had too many other movies. I've taught the book earlier as a teacher, and I've heard good things about the movie.

I'm in general, a big fan of weepy kid films, but i found Bridge to Terabithia a little lacking in a dramatic arc. The characters were somewhat too stock for my liking. If the story had been strong allegorically, stereotypes wouldn't have mattered. But this number kept its feet quite firmly planted in reality, with the fantasy world feeling very stuck on. In fact, it reminded me of one of those awful Christian booklets you find handed to you on the street, with some dodgy tale about hope and love etc. I'm assuming the book integrates the disparate parts better. Honestly, you wldn't be missing much. Track down The Never-Ending Story instead.
Oh, could I feel as I have felt, or be what I have been, Or weep as I could once have wept, o'er many a vanished scene; As springs in deserts found seem sweet, all brackish though they be, So, midst the withered waste of life, those tears would flow to me.

Ahhhh, "The Neverending Story". Such a wonderful flick! However, the sequel SUCKS!"I can't live the buttoned down life like all of you! I've managed to avoid the sequel thank god. So, I see ya changed yr tag line. That Simps quote you had is one of my all time favourite Homer moments, but I suppose this one is pretty damn fine also.

Hey, Monkey, sorry if I seemed rude by not responding earlier, but I never got a chance to watch it the last time. However, I did pick it up for free again, so I promise to watch it this time. I did see your post about your take on the ending and a disagreement you had with a "lower life form".

The Good Shepherd. It was an interesting movie. I can see why some critics didn't like it. It's very much a "slow burn" type of film. The pace is very measured, and the payoff was somewhat small, and fairly obvious. However, I like the way it captured time and place, and what I perceive to be the reality of espionage during the cold war. It was much more Le Carre's "grey men" than Ian Fleming. Only one additional quibble. While Angelina Jolie clearly and visibly aged, Matt Damon never looked any older than he did during college. This was distracting to me, and may reflect some inexperience on Mr. DeNiro's part as a director?
--------------- My basic objection to religion is not that it isn't true; I like plenty of things that aren't true. It's that religion grants its adherents malign, intoxicating and morally corrosive sensations. -Philip Pullman
