The Illusionist The Family Stone
Rented and viewed these last night for the first time, and enjoyed them both.
P.S.: It is either a series of coincidences, or a clairvoyance, or some sort of extreme intuitiveness. Whatever it is, there has never, ever been a single bad intention on the part of the person who is "afflicted" or "gifted" (whichever way one looks at such things). God knows, and I know, that this is 1,000% true.

Hey guys, going to rent some movies, want something really funny--but like funny smart and something dramatic. Doesn't matter what year--preferrably this year--but just as long as it isn't super old. Leaving in like 20 minutes so let me know your suggestion, thanks!

I just finished last night TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY, the British TV mini-series from 1979 that starred Alec Guinness as Smiley, based on the John Le Carre character. I decided to watch it after it was favorably mentioned in one of the GOOD SHEPHERD reviews.
My next two Netflix rentals will be I SEE A DARK STRANGER, which I think Mark F. recommended, and THE SILENCERS, one of the "Matt Helm" movies that starred Dean Martin.

Yeah, that was me, but I really hope YOU like I See a Dark Stranger, but I know you'll be straight-up, brutally honest either way. Hey, pay attention, and tell me if Debbie Kerr doesn't look made up to have acne in the opening scene? Enjoy, I hope!! P.S. I won't take the blame for what you think of The Silencers (probably the best Matt Helm).

I've had good luck with Frank Laudner so we'll see. And I generally like the Brits so I have high hopes for this one. I don't know how this one slipped throught he cracks. Not only haven't I seen it, I haven't even heard of it. quote: Originally posted by mark f:P.S. I won't take the blame for what you think of The Silencers (probably the best Matt Helm).
I'll blame the late, great Pauline Kael. She liked the film and that is why I added it to my "want to see" list. I generally like Dean Martin, who kind of sleepwalked through life.
