I have spent many years in San Diego, and have come to revere the criticisms of Duncan Shepherd (San Diego Reader).
Notwithstanding his prediliction for elevation any Cohn brothers movie to the top of the heap--equivalent (in his opinion) to most movies made before 1950--his reviews are simultaneously oblique and on the mark. He's not interested in making friends with moviegoers--he is a puritan has made my movie review reading experience richer as a result.
Have you a local movie reviewer that you think should be included in the pantheon of Metacritic reviewers? Let me know, and we can disucuss how they might rightfully be included in the site.
