I just went to see Sin City and was generously underwhelmed. Woe be to me to have to reveal to my wife that I had faith in Metacritic!

Afterwords, we read the actual reviews and it seems difficult to comprehend how they could amount to a 70+ rating. In the real world, this would mean that those preferring the movie outnumbered those that didn't by a 3-to-1 margin.

Even though Metacritic offers the advantage of including an ensemble of reviewers, why isn't there more scrutiny of the methods use to compare critics?
