Saw "Hancock" a while back and liked it. I am not doing backflips over it, but at least it was unpredictable at times which is becoming rare. Will Smith definitely has staying power; he can dominate a screen. Last movie seen was the latest X Files. Enjoyed it. Though sluggish at times, it really touched on important issues. Faith and metaphysics, the ethics of science and medicene, and the battle of darkness and light in the human heart are all present in this movie. It is lot to tackle and therefore, I thought it was well done. I recommend it over Hancock, though one doesn't have to choose. Both are worth viewing.
Boy, you got to carry that weight a long time!

Guess everyone knows about this one. Saw it at the IMAX, which is only going to make it difficult re-watching it on dvd. Anyway, I enjoyed this much, much more than Batman Begins (which lost my interest in the third act). Great ensemble cast here- even if Ledger steals the show, he's surrounded by great talent. Thankfully Katie Holmes was replaced with a real actress, Maggie Gyllenhaal. Really enjoyed the entire feature, even if it was a tad too long.

Last week I saw "Annie Hall", "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly", and "There Will Be Blood". All were very impressive and very different. "There Will Be Blood" has some of the best acting I have seen recently.
I don't go to the movies too often (I have Netflix), but I might have to go see "The Dark Knight" after all this praise. Though it doesn't really seem like my kind of movie...

Seemed to be a great movie, but it was hard to tell with the group of toddlers playing with cell phones and crying while their fat moms ignore them so that they can shove some more candy down their throats

No aliens this time round and not much for fans of the paranormal either. The movie is more of an extended episode that only diehard fans would want to watch more than once. So I'll rent it on dvd when the time comes. Nice thriller for anyone who has only slight knowledge of the show and doesn't want to see aliens & urban/rurual legends creeping about.

Picks right up where their White Castle flick ended. First two-third of the film was very funny (more of the same raunchy humor the first movie featured). But I felt the last third was a struggle to sit through as it tried to become cute or something (cute doesn't work well with those dudes).

I went into this with the lowest of expectations: I only wanted to see CAVEMEN FIGHTING SABRE-TOOTHED TIGERS!!!!!!!!! Did I get that? NO! There's a picture of a sabre-toothed tiger face-to-face with a caveman RIGHT ON THE COVER and the scene was in EVERY TRAILER, but there was no fight. There wasn't even a "partnership" between the two! I don't even think the sabre-toothed tiger was in the movie for more than 30 seconds! And the "cavemen"? We got better cavemen in "Battlefield Earth" (and they flew harrier jets)! These guys never hooted or hollared like monkeys... not even a little bit! They even spoke perfect english! How in the crap do you do this to CAVEMEN?! It's like I was watchin' an extended Geico commercial... only the cavemen didn't look like cavemen! Also, the girl from the Campbell's soup commercial (don't ask me how I remember seeing her in that friggin' commercial soooo many years ago. I guess she just has that kinda face.) looked kinda weird with blue contacts. I'm typin' "Jessica Alba as Sue Storm" weird-lookin'.
F'd up like a mug!
At least I saw it for free!

That's Camilla Belle, one hot mama.
Hellboy II: The Golden Army
Excellent sequel, kicks the original's ass all over the screen, even though it was mostly predictable. Only gripe is that Selma Blair needs to show more skin. She's most hot, whether on fire or not.

Spanish giallo starring Paul Naschy as a drifter with a violent past. Things get bloody not long after Naschy begins working in a big house with three strange sisters- one in a wheelchair, another with a deformed arm and the third is a red hot nympho. Ok, so, murders begin occuring as blue-eyed blonde haired maidens get knifed and their eyes removed. Seems obvious Naschy's character is the killer as he's eyeballing all the chicks in the flick but there are plot twists late in the 3rd act and well, rent it yourself. Nice cheesy score btw.

It's too bad it had its tail whooped by "The Dark Knight" before it could make much of a profit. A third installment seems doubtful.
The Bucket List
I didn't like it. Its heart was in the right place, but its delivery was off. Waaaaay off. I get that they wanted to show 2 guys from opposite worlds coming together and realizing blah, blah, blah... But why give the 2 leads cancer if they aren't going to act like they have a debilitating illness? I mean, after a doctor cuts on me, I'm not able to do much at all. I had a surgery just last October and I'm STILL not 100%! (Then again I did have some unexpected complications with the tearing of my brain and all, but cancer's worse than a friggin' shunt revision, right?) Their illness seemed to only be a plot device to get these 2 characters together because the writer just couldn't think of any other way to get a mechanic and a billionaire(?) to meet for some laughs and tear-jerking moments. You wanna see a REAL movie of someone overcoming the adversity of a debilitating illness to accomplish something important to them before they died? I'd recommend "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly". Not funny, but it has a whole lot more heart than this movie did (and you won't feel they were really going for the moments when tears actually do fall from your eyes).

What a magnificent cheese fest this flick is. Lee & Susan are a married couple who meet Diane at an art gallery. Lee thinks he's the ladies man, and Susan is a dumb but beautiful blond. Diane could pass as a sister to Jennifer Connelly looks wise. Diane invites the couple to her desert home and the fun begins. You see, Diane is a vampire (though she can survive the brutal desert sunlight with a floppy hat). This is a really cool early '70s vampire flick, with some fine psychedelic-desert scenes and perhaps the best ever not-meant-to-be-funny vampire/ victim chase in motion picture history. Great hippee, free-love time period film that is different from other vampire movies of that era.

So-so anti-war film. Abbie Cornish was especially hot, though.
Reservation Road
Hit-and-run accident by Mark Ruffalo kills the son of Jennifer Connelly & Joaquin Phoenix. Unfortunately the film feels more like made-for-TV (commercial TV that is).

I was broke as a joke, so my Star Wars buddy paid my way to make sure I was able to see this next chapter in the saga... and I'm glad I didn't pay. It really wasn't that great. Not even if you're a MAJOR Star Wars fan like I am! In fact, it was pretty darn disappointing to a fan like me. I guess because I went in expecting more and I guess I shouldn't have. This is actually a series premiere more than a movie, and I knew that, but I was thinkin' there would be a bit more storywise. I was hoping for more from Asajj Ventress and Durge. While we got a bit more of Asajj (however, we don't get to see a rematch between her and Anakin), it wasn't very much and Durge NEVER SHOWED UP! Maybe we'll get 'em more in the series. I was MOST disappointed in the fact that we didn't get to see Anakin's fight with Asajj that gave him the scar over his right eye (the movie takes place after he already has the scar). The movie itself was a single mission with Anakin teaming with a Padawan (who was actually too cutesy & annoying) to rescue Jabba's son (whom they tried to make cute, but failed). That's about all it was.
This was definetly aimed at children more than adults and it's not that important to the saga at all. I'd recommend it as a rental if you happen to get into the television series (I'll at least give it a shot), but if not, you can ignore it completely and just stick with the 'toons they already have out on DVD. While they are animated, they're actually more "adult" than this CG version.
D (At least until I see how this all pans out with the series.)

"AmityVille Horror"-Not a great movie, but Ryan Reynolds yet again proves how great of an actor that he is. Somewhat campy, but not very original.
"Guess Who?"-Terrible, Terrible, Terrible. There is nothing good about this movie. I walked out halfway through it and never looked back. Bernie Mac and Ashton Kutcher are pretty much the worst actors of today and combining them is like combining a root canal and jury duty.
Now, I can actually post something about every movie that I see without having to mention it in another thread. Hope nobody minds too much.

Actually, this thread is rather old and I would like to change my original review to reflect that the movie was absolutely terrible.
I would also like to welcome our newest spammer, bestdawson. Welcome, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
