WALL●E

I saw this for the first time earlier tonight and it is one breathtaking film. I don't know what took me so long to see it—well I do know, but that's neither here nor there.

I haven't been so profoundly touched by a movie in a very long time. I cried many different times, throughout the entire film—that's never happened with any film before.

Anyways, I highly recommend it.

Hancock

I went to see this movie on the 4th and it wasn't as bad as all that. It was actually quite funny and it had some MAJOR ACTION SEQUENCES!!!!!!!!!!! It did have a kinda strange origin for Hancock that I didn't fully understand, but I didn't go to this movie to understand anything BUT the action (and that ugly bag of snakes was laid out straight than a mug! Wink). I also didn't find the movie to be all that uneven. Sure. The action suddenly stops for a bit in the middle, but it didn't leave me bored. It's not a PERFECT movie (they coulda gone a few different directions than where they went with the picture), but it certainly wasn't a waste of time. Definetly a Blu-buy. Hopefully they give it an uncompressed soundtrack. That would be so sweeeeeeeet! Big Grin

B

Independence Day

Well, as I've done EVERY July 4th since 1996, I watched "Independence Day" after we were outta fireworks, but this year I watched it again for the first time... on Blu-ray! I couldn't believe how absolutely beautiful the picture and sound were! I mean, yes, I know Blu-ray naturally looks and sounds better than DVD, but this movie is 12 feakin' years old! They didn't film it with HD cameras, but it certainly looks like they did! EXAMPLE: There is a scene where they show a satelite collide with the Mother Ship and I always lost it in the darkness until it exploded on the ship's surface. NOT THIS TIME! I was able to follow that tiny dot all the way to its point of contact! It kinda sucks that they didn't release the director's cut of the film, but at least I didn't have to sit through the dork's line at the end, "If we die, we'll both die virgins." Roll Eyes So frikkin' cheesy it gives me gas! Mad (I'm lactose intolerant.) I don't know why some people can't enjoy this movie. I've been in love with it since I first saw the trailer when I went to see "Mission: Impossible"! Oh, yes. It was love at first sight. Sure there are parts that are ridiculous (a laptop that's compatible with alien technology, Africans apparently brung a Destroyer down with spears, the nuke disintegrates the Mother Ship), but it's one helluva ride! And in the end, isn't that what Summer is all about?

A

Wall-E

Well, Pixar has finally made up for making "Cars" (I still haven't watched it all the way through and NEVER WILL. I CAN'T STAND THAT MOVIE! It probably has sumpthin' to do with Larry the Cable Guy or maybe it's just because cars without people is one of the STUPIDEST ideas to me. Why couldn't they do like they did on Looney Tunes? I'm sure you guys know what I'm talkig about. Wink). I caught "Wall-E" with the fam yesterday and this has become one of my (and my son's) favorite CG-animated flicks. In fact, it falls just under "The Incredibles". They say this little guy was inspired by Johnny 5 ("Short Circuit" for those of you who have been living under a rock), but Wall-E makes "him" look like a pile of puke! I've one word that sums up this movie: ADORABLE!

A all the way!

"I can't live the buttoned down life like all of you! I want it all: the terrifying lows, the dizzying highs, the creamy middles! Sure, I might offend a few of the blue-noses with my cocky stride and musky odor - oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called 'City Fathers' who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about what's to be done with this Monkey_Boy?!"

Most recent films I've seen: The Car, the 1977 movie with James Brolin vs a demonic car, and this year's Wall-E, the romantic/political/ecological animated flick. Enjoyed both films.

Saw Psycho for the first time today.
I am not a horor fan but this movie was really excelent. Been watching a lot of Hitchcock movies the last couple of months and Psycho is my favorite so far.
The camera angles Hitchcock uses are really imaginative and Anthony Perkins is so believable as his character.

Frowner Meet Dave

Lame jokes, and a completely waste of time.
I feel sorry for Eddie Murphy . I do enjoy his performance in Dreamgirls.
1/5

Eeker Journey to the Center of the Earth

Make sure you pay the extra $1.5 and see this one with a 3-D glasses. That's the part that worths the money. The story itself is quite in the 50's. Trailer

Big Grin Hellboy 2: The Golden Army

Which one do you think is the best? The 1 or the 2?

I think the second is better, but it still leave space for the third one to improve. The most touching part is when Abe and Red do a drunken duet to Barry Manilow's sappy "Can't Smile Without You". The Prince Nuada is coolest character in the whole sign. I wish the Hellboy trilogy can turn out to be comparative works to the Lord of the Rings. trailer

Flawless
Classy but slow gem heist flick starring Demi Moore & Michael Caine. She's been overlooked for promotions in the London diamond business and he's a janitor with a grudge. Good acting, a couple twists kept my interest. Worth a rental if you like this sorta stuff.

I saw Hancock recently. It is an OK movie..not that great compared to hype it created prior to it's release. Yes it was better then "I am Legend" though. Am eagerly awaiting the release of Wanted in Asia-Pacific. I heard it has released in The UK and US and has been getting Rave reviews.

Percept Holdings.

Shade

Over a month ago I bought this movie for a coupla bucks on my brother's word that it was a great movie. I popped it in when I got home and watched the trailer and immediatly lost ALL INTEREST in it and placed it back on the shelf. Well, my brother called me up last night to see if I've watched it or "The Bucket List" (which he loaned to me several weeks ago) and got mighty upset when I told him I hadn't watched either one. So, I promised him I'd watch "Shade" last night...

And it was quite enjoyable! I didn't really feel in the mood for a "poker movie", but it definetly has a few twists and turns that keep it interesting. Sylvester Stallone's The Dean is one of the cooler characters this man has ever played. Not "action hero cool", "suave cool". Cool

Be Kind Rewind

The wife rented this last night and we laughed our @sses off for over an hour and a half! Big Grin Fantastic little flick! It had a little heart in it, which was quite unexpected, but welcome nonetheless. The interesting ways they came up with doing their effects just makes you wanna grab a camera and get to work! Big Grin I highly recommend this little gem. I'm just wondering when we'll see Mos Def play someone without a mental deficiency, or has that become his "type"?

I Know Who Killed Me

Much better than I expected, which was very little. It is hard to go wrong with Lyndsay Lohan pole-dancing scenes though.

I thought Be Kind Rewind was a cute little flick too. If nothing else it was original, and had a far more interesting message than most movies. This was one instance where I really thought the critics were off base.

I saw Mamma Mia last week in the theatre -- I thought it was alright, I might see it again. The music was good.

A metascore of 52?! I'd say so! Even the users gave it a 5.8! People really couldn't see the charm in this movie, could they? Confused

Ratatouille

Sorry, FraggleRockA... I didn't enjoy it as much as you did. Red Face I didn't laugh all that much (I did burst into laughter when I saw the couple fighting with the gun and then the sudden gunshot, but I can't remember laughing at much else) and I really wanted to like it too! I ended up finishing it, so it's a step above "Cars (OOOOHHH, how I HATE "Cars" for staining Pixar's record! Mad), but just a step. With a 96 metascore, this movie is waaaaaay overrated in my opinion. The kids love it, so I'll morethanlikely end up owning it... but they'll be watchin' it UPSTAIRS!

I was actually surprised to see Brad Bird had written and directed this! I LOVED "The Iron Giant" and "The Incredibles"! It's hard to believe this movie came from the same mind. Confused

Vantage Point
Flick about multiple vantage points during the assassination of the US president (William Hurt).Bourne meets Run Lola Run doesn't work here (it's overkill instead). Still, it's worth seeing when it shows up on cable.

Penelope
A centuries old family curse places a snout on the face of Penelope (Christina Ricci). If she finds true love, then the curse if lifted. Predictable fantasy romantic-comedy but I liked it and Ricci makes it worth watching.

I just watched I'm Not There, which quite frankly was spectacular. It was a movie I didn't really have that high hopes for, I mean six different people playing Bob Dylan, but I appreciate quality cinema when I see it.

Falling Down

I don't know why this film has been so forgotten. It's so important and realistic and I cried at least once during it. I've never been so sympathetic with a character as psycho as Michael Douglas'. The movie sometimes funny, but mostly it just feels so real and relatable that you're on the edge of your toes rooting for this character. It's a sad movie.
