"But Richard, you had [ate] roaches like everybody else, and they was good too, wasn't they, honey."

I admit that it might be too obscure. RayRay (the thread's originator), where are you? I don't know if this is worth it to anyone, but I will say that this film has been mentioned by me in the Movie section of these threads, and there's a dead giveaway which movie it is right in the quote. How about I leave that clue for 24 hours, and if nobody gets it, I'll come up with something easier?

Trust me, mark f, I've been racking my brains on this one and can't come up with it. Hopefully somebody does in the next 24 hours. If not, let us know and offer another!

"But Richard, you had [ate] roaches like everybody else, and they was good too, wasn't they, honey."
First off, Happy Father's Day. It seems apparent that no one will get this, and my schedule won't let me wait the full 24 hours. The quote is from RICHARD Pryor Live in Concert, and yes, it's really a movie; I saw it at the theatre more than once in 1979.
Pryor was telling a story about a Thanksgiving dinner at his grandmother's house where a neighbor brought over some dressing with almonds in it. Everyone was having a wonderful time until somebody said, "Hey, there's some legs on one of my almonds."
Grandmother took Richard aside and told him that the neighbor was old and nearly blind and that she probably forgot and left the oven door open, and the roaches crawled in. "But, Richard, you had roaches like everybody else, and they was good too, wasn't they, honey?"
I promise: nothing too obscure anymore ; anyway, I highly recommend the movie with that SPECIFIC title.
I know you'll get this:
"Bring out the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch."

OK, I said I wouldn't do any more obscure films, and this ISN'T OBSCURE!
quote:Originally posted by mark f: "Is it safe?" "Tell me what the 'it' refers to." "Is it safe??"
This is the most complete quote I can come up with: "Is it safe?" "Are you talking to me?" "Is it safe?" "Is what safe?" "Is it safe?" "Tell me what the 'it' refers to." "Is it safe?" "Yes. It's very safe. It's so safe you wouldn't believe it." "Is it safe?" "No. It's not safe. It's very dangerous. Be careful."
Now aside from the fact that I've mentioned this film in several threads this week, I won't accept that it's obscure ( it's adapted from a very famous novel from the 70s, by a very famous author.)
That's enough for now.

Well, I have a friend whom I haven't seen for three weeks and I merely said the words, "Is it safe?", and he yelled out the film in 1/2 second. He's not a member here, so I told him to sign up so he could at least comment on this thread. I guess it doesn't mean too much when I told him the line about roaches that he got that in 1/2 second too. Scott, where are you when I need you?
P.S. Someone had this thread tied up earlier for 11 days, so let's take a few deep breaths, since we're nowhere near that...or if you really care, research it on the web.

Oh, I believe thats from Clerks: TAS, but I could be incorrect. If Im right heres the next quote---
Your quote is from Bowling for Columbine. My earlier "Is it Safe?, etc. quote is NOT from "Clerks." That's OK, if anybody knows the quote above, they may name that film or they may name this one: "What we have here is...failure to communicate."

Better Off Dead. What a great, great movie. About two years ago, I hired a young woman who's step brother is an actor and one of the Asian brothers who were always trying drag-race with John Cusack's character. I don't know if she more pleased or secretly afraid at how much that impressed me.
I Googled your earlier quote, mark. It kept tickling my brain, so I was mighty embarassed to find it was Marathon Man. What a great movie. What a scary movie.
How about:
"As you wish."

That quote must be in several films. I even remember Darth Vader saying it. But, LT, you have to be going for The Princess Bride! It must have been said ten times there.
How about this one: "Did you see her come in?"

Although I remember hearing that in "The Million Dollar Hotel", I doubt anybody else watched it. I believe you're going for The Big Lebowski, one of many people's favorite films here, and starring one of your favorite character actors.
Try "Who are those guys??"
